A gift is a gift.. super grateful! Always a beautiful wine and we can all debate about the current px etc but if you strip that away, I still think Opus One makes a great wine. Sure we all have preferences and there is always better out there. That said, this is in a great spot. Balanced acidity, fruit and ripe tannins that are don’t get in the way, but keep you engaged. Delicious with a NY strip — 2 years ago
Opaque red color. Sweet cherry, raspberry fruits. Cigar box, chocolate-vanilla swirl. Good pairing with a butter/ rosemary seared strip steak. — 4 years ago
An absolutely wonderful Talbot. Perfect condition and with a 2.5 hour decant this is drinking wonderfully. Excellent pairing with a medium rare dry aged strip steak. Quite seamless on the palate with excellent acid and a hint of menthol. Deep dark fruit and earth. Just lovely. — 2 years ago
Nice nose, good initial palette, slides off the end at this point, but, for the price point, awesome with prime NY strip — 3 years ago
Beautiful, beautiful wine. The last 96 we had was maybe a smidge more together but it’s marginal. Quite dark in the glass. Deep restrained red fruit on the nose. Tannins are slightly dusty but overall very seamless. Excellent refreshing acid. Perfect with a dry aged strip steak. — 3 years ago

Beast of the East vs. Best of the West….taste off
VA Monticello Petit Verdot against a Cali Napa Valley Cab.
Pairing: American Wagyu Strip, Home Fries, Mushroom Ron Zacapa 23 glaze.
As much as I love my Napa Cabs, the edge went to the PV. 93 - 92. — 19 days ago
