Such a nice toasty, malty red from Ancient City Brewing in St. Augustine, FL. The can says “Named after the Matanzas River, this ale pays homage to the early history of our city, when the Spanish took control of Florida from the French in a bloody conflict. That wonderful combo of fruity. Piquets met with dark fruit yet dry on the pallet. Delightful blend when a straight can might bear heavily and a Merlot or Pinot might not quite stand up... warmed up beautifully with new flavors opening up and a subtle but lingering end note. We enjoyed with rich seafood and Augustine sides. Wish I could say how it was the second night, but for this one, there was. I second night! — 8 years ago

Smooth and balanced. Earthy with cherry notes. This was my soldiers favorite on our wine and food tour in St Augustine FL. We tasted many German and Austria wines and this was the best red. Very good paired with the pasta w/ red sauce we had for his going back to base. ☹️ I really like the finish on this. I will definitely get this again. — 9 years ago

Shared a bottle in St Augustine, Florida with my wife and best man. 2001 Vintage, decanted briefly and really enjoyed the experience. Rich and balanced, subtle flavors, smooth finish. So much to experience and enjoy with this wine. Old oak scent, leather & tobacco. Nice muted fruit, crushed dark cherries, so amazing! Highly recommended. — 10 years ago
