Cascina Sciulun Superiore Barbera d'Alba 2017

Lots of Barbera acid, stewed sour cherry, dried violets, brambly, cedar, black pepper and touch of baking spice. Some Nebbiolo-like tar? From Amaro Spirits and Wine. 10/30/20 — 6 years ago

Sacred Spirits Company

Gin London Dry

Brought this home from the office before the lockdown. I carried this back from London, where this is one of the main gins they serve at the Dukes Bar for their legendary martinis. Hope I can get back there again. — 6 years ago

Pomegranate Liqueur

So, not sure how to follow up on a night that included an incredible wine dinner featuring Ridge Vineyards... The jammy Zin's have left me looking for something a little sweeter (I have no Ridge in the house as alternative). So off to the wonderful land of pomegranate liqueur over ice. This is a dangerous bottle, hence it hasn't been cracked until tonight, I had to clean the dust off, but now it'll never make it back to the shelf...Seek and be rewarded! — 9 years ago

It's super good stuff, highly extracted flavor. I'm enjoying sipping it in between squirting cats climbing inside my Christmas tree with a spray bottle, fun times. 🐈🐈

Too funny. This might have been the dessert pair you were looking for at the Stag’s Leap Winery dinner.

St. George Spirits

Aqua Perfecta Framboise Liqueur

Great balance with the tartness and acidity of the raspberries cutting through the sweetness. — 10 years ago

Giaconda

Estate Vineyard Chardonnay

Guess what it’s Chardonnay! If you couldn’t get that then maybe switch to spirits. Very sulphitic in character both on the nose and palate. When you only really drink natural wines this old school wine isn’t what you want any more. The decanter still had a glass in it at the end of the night. — 2 years ago

Guímaro

Vino Tinto Ribeira Sacra Mencía 2018

Funk on the nose, ripe red fruit, cranberry, and a lot of acid, graphite, gamey. From Amaro Spirits and Wine. 10/29/20 — 6 years ago

***Super sweet, beautiful color. Local PA wine score! This is a lovely rose` wine which I located at Wegmans (grocery store) in Williamsport, PA in May of 2018. I have never seen this wine at any PA Wine & Spirits locations, so I was glad that I took a chance on this wine when I saw it!

St. George Spirits

Pear Brandy

Bartlett Pear eau de vie. (Lot PB-08)

This will be my initial experience with this bottle after passing it in my local shop numerous times and pondering the eventual purchase.

Ok... Just like everything else made under the roof at St. George's, this is crazy juice, nose is intense peeled pear skin and the palate has the truest expression of pear I've ever known. All this is distinctly Bartlett Pear, no question. Wow, perfect close to the evening.

I also like the Clear Creek Distillery version from Portland but side by side tasted with the one from the Schladerer Distillery from Freiburg Germany it fell short just to much in your face pear. Schladerer exports world wide even BevMo carries their spirits the Cherry 🍒 Version is stellar.

Thanks, I'll look up both of those producers, based on your palate, I think they should be quite nice.

St. George Spirits

Breaking & Entering Bourbon Whiskey

I have long been a fan of St. George for a long time, and this confirms my high opinion of them. Nose of rye spice with vanilla and bananas foster, and on the taste, honey-sweetened tea with clove and pepper, masala tea spices, oak, and bitter chocolate. Orange emerges immediately on the finish with subsequent honey. — 5 years ago

Château Trians

Côteaux Varois

The perfect antidote to winter, a good Provence rosé is summer in a glass—and this obliging bottle of 2015 Château Trians Reserve de Trians Coteaux Varois certainly lifted the spirits after days of snow and bitter temperatures in Portland. It's salmon-hued with golden reflexes and the sort of breezy aromas I just adore. Melon. White peach. White flowers, talcum powder, and sea air and the most wonderful acidity embroidered in chalky repose to hold it all together. 13.5% ABV Sample — 9 years ago
