Esprit Barossa Valley Red Rhone Blend 2004

Stunner - just dense & inky, brooding effusive nose of a berry compote, rich ripe saturated with pervasive spine of minerality, Herbes de Provence. Just jaw dropping. So soft & plush on palate, like sinking into an old Cadillac, crushed velvet, gobs of dark fruit, sweet baking spices, pepper and extraordinary length on finish. Tasted w/vintner prior to release (knew it would be epic) - drank & sold a lot of this. In the zone now w/many years ahead — 3 months ago

@ESF Great patience for such a delicious wine from the get go.

Vallée des Roches Barossa Valley Shiraz 2009

Very dark crimson - particularly for a 10 year old wine. Plum Chocolate and a tarry Creosote like note. A medium to full bodied palate of M plus intensity. I have the greatest of respect for Huon Hooke as a wine judge but I think his drinking window of 2011 to 2019 is too conservative. This has the power to go on for at least another 5 years and should show more complexity then. Estimating drinking windows is an inexact science. — 2 years ago

Tabor Vineyard Red Blend 2009

See previous notes from 2018 and 2020 which still apply. From 100% old vine Mataro from the Barossa valley. Dried plum with a tarry note - a touch of nutmeg and dried meat. Soft resolved tannins. A lovely savoury wine - a great food wine. — 5 months ago

Garcon Barossa Valley Grenache 2018

In the meaty, earthy Grenache corner. More sour cherry than juby raspberry. Fine cloudy tannin. — a year ago
