Planted in 1971, the fruit was selected from the oldest section of Sanford & Benedict Vineyard. Aromas of berry fruit with subtle floral and spice, aged for 22 months in new French oak. On the palate raspberry and cherry fruit flavors, a bit crisp with light oak tones. Firm tannins, a bit tight, lingering, ending with mineral notes. Very nice, tasting well now! — 6 years ago

Grapes selected from a collection of prime Napa Valley vineyards, including Atlas Peak and Spring Mountain, 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot, aged for 15 months in 98% French oak and 2% American oak (30% new). Deep red with aromas of ripe red fruits with pepper spice. On the palate, cherry and blackberry flavors with cacao and espresso notes, has an underlying sweetness. Full-body, fine juicy tannins, nicely integrated, balanced with acidity ending with earth and mineral notes. Nice value! Tasting well. — 8 years ago

Just a baby. Hand selected grapes from the oldest vines; 100% Sangiovese. Had this right after Stella de Compalto Brunello. It certainly held it’s own and at half the price.
Complex, tart fruit and acid with tannins to give it major aging ability. WOould love to try again, 5 years down the road. — 5 years ago
