Clos de los Siete Valle de Uco Malbec Blend 2019

This wine will give the run for the money (around $20-ish), taste a fell absolute Lucius, a beautiful concept guided by legendary Michel Roland from a single vineyard at the valley de Uco, Argentina. A complex blend dominated by half (50%) Malbec, 24% Merlot, 11% Syrah, 7% cab sauv, 3% Petit Verdot, and 5% Cab Franc. Tanning are solid, inky and waxy texture with a long finish. G.A.E.C. Bonneau & Fils

Réserve des Célestins Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2009

We first tried a bottle of Celestins in a restaurant in Gigondas some years ago, and for me it was a WOW Wine. Had this latest bottle on Sunday with Roast Pork. Medicinal to begin with which blew off. Barnyard aromas - horse manure. In hindsight this could’ve been Brett but the overall impression and tasting was impressive and memorable. Glad I have 3 left. Showing a medium to full bodied palate. This is textbook CdP in the old school genre. The tannins are silky and sexy - a liquorice note together with saddle leather. Henri Bonneau passed away in 2016 and the wine making is now carried out by his son, Marcel. A visit to his archaic cellars was keenly sought after and rarely granted. Mould all over the walls, rickety stairs light bulbs dangling from the ceiling and a floor which stuck to the soles of your shoes was how one visitor described his experience in the cellar. Nevertheless this is a CdP up there with Rayas and the top Cuvée from Beaucastel. The blend is usually 90% Grenache with the balance made up of around 4 or 5 different varieties. — 2 years ago

Clos de los Siete Malbec Blend

I think this is an amazing Malbec blend - 58%, 23% Merlot, 10% Cab, 8% Syrah, and 1% Petit Verdot but… it needs to open up a little bit more; I can’t help being impatient- this wine has been 9 years for me to find it tucked away in a small city Arkansas liquor store. Initial impressions are - I love this but and the intricacy of the blend. On the nose - definitely blackberry and black currants. So smooth and perfectly balanced on the palette. I would definitely purchase this again but I’d look for an older bottle for sure! Oh, did I mention this bottle cost under $20? — 10 months ago

Clos de los Siete Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2017

Argentinian Blend of Malbec (52%), Merlot (21%), Syrah (15%), Cabernet Sauvignon (7%), Petite Verdot (3%) and Cabernet Franc (2%). Dark ruby/purple color. Aromas and flavors of blackberry, blueberry, dark chocolate, wet soil and roasted nuts. Medium-plus body and very long finish. Creamy texture and fine tannins. Just a bit touch of sharpness.
