La Paulée Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

I’m not a Pinot guy but this threads the needle between the body of a Sonoma PN with the verve and acidity of a Burgundy. — 6 days ago

Arlyn Vineyard Gamay Noir 2018

Wanted to try one of my 3 bottles of 2018. I know it’s too young and it shows but it’s still great. Nose: twizzlers, ripe fresh cut berries, hint of licorice. This is distinctly gamay and there’s a bit of that cola thing you find in Cali Pinot but it’s tart and savory and clearly gamay. Good stuff. Will drink the next two in a couple years. — 11 days ago

Domaine Paul Pernot et Ses Fils

Clos des Folatières Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2016

The very decadent exquisitely beautiful (in small portions) face of white Burgundy. Like a steakhouse dessert. From a good steakhouse. Think creme brûlée, burnt sugar, lychee, mango, passion fruit.

Rich and creamy, deep and all together as one. Good acid to stand firm.

Married perfectly with Rogue Rive Blue (best cheese in the world - look it up).

Seems incredibly hard to find that cheese! I'll keep a look out for it.

"K" Alsace Pinot Gris 2016

this bottle takes me back to Alsace.
i spent a weekend in Strasbourg in 2006 protesting/partying in front of the European parliament that's located there.
no wine was tasted as i sticked to self imported bottle of zubrowka vodka, drops of potent LSD (that were dropped to the tail end of the vodka by a really short vicious smiling man - true story) and local pilsner beer that i remember fondly that's called 'meteor' and came in large 750ml bottles(pretty good ice cold and just ok after the sun warmed up the last 3rd of the bottle).

and now... 13 years later. different tastebuds. but I'm still the same person essentially.

100% pinot gris

off dry officially but feels dry.

14% ABV

pale green 👀

🧀 rind, green apple, pear, very fresh lemon and finely chopped greens👃

full body. I'm guessing the rs helps to build it.
medium plus acidity.

creamy, tart and a bit fruity with added white pepper and maybe even ginger 👄

long lingering pleasent creamy 🎯 like tasty and slightly bitter 🍬

great wine, no doubt about it.
tasty and complex, plays with you and changes every sip, but always superb.

excelent vfm (110 nis). expensive but works hard for your money.

need to try the winery Riesling now.

had it all day on it's own while vacationing.
soft and spicy cheese platter could have helped but I'm too full.

Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Petite Chapelle 2009

Meaty savoury notes on nose. Palate is very savoury - hardly any fruit characteristics left. In hindsight not meant for the long haul and possibly better to have drunk a few years ago to get more fruit input. Medium bodied palate with M minus intensity. Usually sells for about a third of La Chapelle. — 13 days ago

Perfect acidity, delightful petrol accent, tremendous knowingness of the Chardonnay grape in the Willamette context. — a month ago

Freedom Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

Purple red, medium pigment extraction, very good clarity. Barrel wood, cherry fruit leather notes in nose. Tart layered bing cherry flavor with length and slightly bitter seed tannin, mild skin astringency on finish. Good acidity and structure, lovely, well-defined contrasting skin tannin texture with rounded mouthfeel. Very nice wine, well balanced display of fruit and tannins. Age worthy, but drinkable enough now. Decant a couple of hours; you’ll be rewarded by greater depth and length of cherry flavor. A gift from my brother, for which I am indeed grateful. — 22 days ago
