The balance on this wine is remarkable. Nose has sappy, plum-tinged ripe cherry, graham cracker, and moist gravel. In the mouth it is rich but at the same time restrained. Intense dry extract completely hiding any perception of alcohol. Balanced acids and light super-fine tannins. Superb wine.

You ever meet that tomboy kind of girl and you can never see her as anything but a buddy but the one time she dresses up in a red satin dress with 4 inch heels you all of a sudden realize what kind of woman you’re dealing with? That is this wine.My first hermitage and it didn’t disappoint. Very masculine wine. Tight and expressive tannins with flavors of leather and cedar and dust. Opened up the smoky and dried meat flavors. Really enjoyed it, hopefully I get to try more of this style in the future. — 10 days ago
Well tonight it was a battle between a ‘11 Peter Michael Ma Belle Fille and a ‘11 Paul Hobbs Ritchie Vineyards. It was very close. Much like picking between your kids but PM prevails. — 8 days ago
Speechless....I have been lucky enough to share this wine with friends twice. Both times I have been blown away. It is fresh, concentrated, but elegant. I cannot fathom that it is 30 years old. It will age for another 20-30 years easily. It is a force of nature yet it has balance and grace. Rocks/minerality with a sweetness of currants, dark fruit, chocolate, smoked meats, and perfect bacon fat. — 2 months ago
