Château La Grave (Paul Barre)

Aux Caudelayres Fronsac Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

Lyle Fass
9.3

Lovely, ripe nose of cassis, huckleberry, tobacco, plum and spice. Lovey minerality. Very fine and refined. Palate is juicy and structured with lovely purity, length and balance. Really showing well. Love Fronsac when it is on. Outstanding length. Nose is bright and high toned. Such a lively bottle of Bordeaux. Great fruit soak on the finish and terrific mineral infused texture. 9.3. Maybe 9.4 with air. Much better than my last bottle. Nose has cocoa now. Big plum. Classic right bank satellite vibes. Unreal juiciness. Tangy cassis. — 3 years ago

Fat Orange Cat Brew Co.

She Drives a Plymouth Satellite New England India Pale Ale

She Drives a Plymouth Satellite by Fat Orange Cat Brew Co. is a New England style IPA. I love the name and the artwork. Such whimsy. This beer is a rich expression of the genre with mango and lychee notes. Thick and smooth. It's a delicious smoothy of a beer. @Delectable Wine — 5 years ago

Satellite

Côtes de Bordeaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

2017 vintage. Satellite Wines is the négociant company started by enfant terrible Olivier Techer, owner of Pomerol estate Château Gombaude Guillot and the brains behind "Pom'n Roll", shaking up the region. The idea is to highlight lesser-known parts of Bordeaux, like this serious organically farmed Côtes de Bordeaux. Not sure if this is a pure Merlot or a blend, but it is undoubtedly a very good wine. Concentrated fruit, a serious tannic structure, balanced acidity and good length. The label states "Bordeaux à boire", but actually this has a very classic ageworthy feel about it, giving many Saint-Emilions a run for their money. Should be perfect in 2 years time, but highly enjoyable now. Very good value at 15 euro. Even better the next day. Abv. 13,5%. — 4 years ago

Le Bordeaux du Paysan Merlot 2018

2018 vintage. This is apparently pure Merlot, a collaboration between Daniel and Nicolas Roux (Château Coulonge) and Olivier Techer (of Gombaude Guillot fame). Organic grapes and no added sulfites. This is a great example of a so-called, "natural wine" without the technical flaws of so many wines in that category. Lots of juicy cherry fruit, clean and fresh with some spiciness and a nice tannic bite. This is not about complexity, but a delicious no-nonsense versatile wine that can be enjoyed on its own or with different kinds of food. Works well even served a bit cold. Abv. 13,5 %. — 4 years ago
