I like this wine because when you taste it, your are pushed into a foreign pinot sanctum. A world where pinot takes on a different meaning. It’s just very different. It’s a paradox, and maybe primitive, but for my wife and I. It does have utility. Day 2 and it’s still a fruit bomb. Sweet, textured and decadent.
I shud have remarked that I pay less than $30 for it! — 3 years ago
Honey, citrus, mineral- clean. Dry, refreshing, approachable. — 14 days ago
Concentrated and rich. Blackberry, cassis and spice - also plenty of Coonawarra mint. 2021 one of the best vintages In Coonawarra in recent memory. Barb and I did the 2021 vintage in Coonawarra at Bellwether. This Yalumba Sanctum - I don’t think I’ve had a higher awarded wine for only $18! 4 Trophies and counting. — 9 months ago
A little funky up front but sweetens up as you drink it. Very easy going down. — 3 years ago
Aromas of dark black fruits - blackberry, plum, blueberry. Bold and big, with soft integrated tannins that draw you into the inner sanctum of the grape varietal. A tinge of age at the ends, but not in the fore front. Nice lovely finish lasting over 30 seconds before it breaks down. Definitely at its peak of performance. Paired well with the bolognese. Even better with the veal chop with figs, pluots, and watermelon radish. As Elizabeth says, this is a gorgeous wine. “It’s a grown up, but not old”. Or as I like to say, like a 40 year old classy lady wearing an evening gown and pearls - just stunning! — 4 years ago
Whole bunch Chardonnay spontaneously fermented in Slovenian and French oak barrels. Aged for 12 months in barrels before transfer to stainless steel.
Such a good fall wine - great with cooked veggies, roasted chicken and pork, and soups.
Light and bright but still pretty complex! — a month ago
Ah, the 2010 vintage of Ricardo Santos Malbec, a transcendental libation that beckons the soul into the labyrinthine depths of vinicultural exuberance. As I imbibed this elixir, my palate embarked on an odyssey through an enigmatic symphony of hedonistic flavors. The terroir speaks with the eloquence of a thousand poets, invoking an avant-garde pas de deux between dark fruit and enigmatic earthiness.
The tannins, oh, the tannins! Like philosophers engaged in a Socratic dialogue with one's senses, they debate their existence before yielding to a seductive silkiness that borders on a Vinous epiphany. Its finish lingers, not unlike the sermons of a zealous street preacher, echoing in the inner sanctum of one's mind.
In conclusion, Ricardo Santos' 2010 Malbec is a vinous riddle wrapped in an enigmatic enigma, destined to provoke laughter, tears, and existential contemplation. A masterpiece of humorous absurdity in a glass! — a year ago
Very light, just sweet enough and the right amount of bubbles — 4 years ago
