San Juan Island, Puget Sound

The Eyrie Vineyards

Estate Grown Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

Second bottle at Duck Soup on San Juan Island. Paired with rack of lamb with quinoa and a lemon yogurt sauce. Lower acidity/minerality than the Langhe, fuller body but still distinctly quaffable. Likely a better wine. — 4 years ago

At Michael's in Friday Harbor on San Juan Island doing the Honeymoon and Michael is the winemaker of this really special and small production blend of Cab Franc and Syrah called Qone'. Impossible to find anywhere else so the bottom line is that Colette and i get to say "nyaaah nyaaah we got some and you didn't" to all of you out there in Delectable-land. — 10 years ago

Semi sweet is pretty dry. Nose screams applesauce but palate is super refreshing.

Another perfectly acidic, high minerality wine with a slightly salty tomato flavor. Drank a couple glasses at Duck Soup on San Juan Island. — 4 years ago

Puget Sound Madeleine Angevine 2015

Delicious! Actually has a lot of similarity to Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Blanc. I’m not an expert, yet... but if I blind tasted this I would have guessed a New Zealand Sauv Blanc. Notes of Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Mandarin Orange, Green Apple, Lychee, Pear, Nectarine with hints of Slate and some Salinity. Low alcohol at 11% and good acidity with a medium finish. — 8 years ago

Apple and quince from Sandy Point Farm, San Juan Island. Tart, funky sparkling cider. Tastes like a mimosa. I can dig it. — 5 years ago

Emerge Puget Sound Rosé 2015

Im typically not a fan of rosé, but this was perfect. Not too sweet. Perfectly fizzy just enough. Highly suggest. Out of a small vineyard on Bainbridge Island in WA--the last place you'd think you'd find a great rosé. — 10 years ago

Quince Cider

Really pretty, almost honeyed, aromatic pure quince cider from San Juan Islands. Would be great w pork or curries. Think Gewürz or Albariño as wine cognates... — 11 years ago
