Barrel Select Nils Venge Los Carneros Vermentino 2016

Such a huge fan of this winery. Uncut grass, a clean barn, white flowers, honeysuckle. On the palate, medium-light, brine. Well made. Rustic yet fresh. — 2 years ago

Mendoza Bonarda 2011

Bonarda also known as charbono. Just enough age on it at 8yr. Saddleback, cranberry, stewed raspberry. Hint of sassafras. Good acidity. — 6 months ago

NILS 30th Anniversary Special Barrel Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Nils Venge was the first 100 point winemaker in Napa Valley. He still makes an amazing product 🍷. Earthy, flinty, hints of tobacco. Not the average fruit bomb. Very complex 🍷 — 3 years ago

Merlot 2015

Medium purple with garnet undertones and clean, thin edges. Nicely complex nose consisting of freshly cut grass, herbs, big blue fruit, and spice. A Napa Merlot that’s actually a Merlot and not so much a Cab in disguise. Medium bodied and round with some acidity that evens out after a bit of air. Almost perfectly integrated oak that doesn’t come close to overdoing it. Big fruit notes on the palate of black cherry, blueberry, and licorice. Mild vanilla, new leather, and plenty of spice to compliment. Long, distinguished finish. This is how you do Merlot. — 10 months ago

Posse Red Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2012

Nils Venge continues to impress me. I'm surprised to see this is the first note on DL!

In the glass, it's a medium cherry red. The nose has plenty of red currant and sweet oak. On the palate, there are definite notes of cranberry and cassis with a hint of wild strawberry. The oak rounds things out in a classic Nils Venge way that I find hard to describe. Soft tannins. Good finish.
