La Pièce sous le bois Meursault 1er Cru Chardonnay 1994

Deep gold color. Lush nose of yellow apple, ripe lemon and stone. Full body, complex and gracefully aged character. Gains complexity with air. Great wine. — 17 days ago

Robert Parker was also at the restaurant. He was drinking better wine than I was, but this was still good. — 5 months ago

Les Caillerets Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2015

Excellent white Burgundy from Cote-D’Or France. Not bitter or too sweet. It’s a light perfect white wine. Robert Morris brought it for me from France. — a year ago

Pommard Pinot Noir 1999

It has been about 4.5+ years since I last rated one of these (I think it is my last one of a half case). For a Villages 20+ years old, it was a delicious wine. Unlike in June 2015, this wine was pretty much singing from the open (last time it needed 30-45 minutes to open up). Enjoyed it with a sous vide pork chop (finished on a cast iron skillet) with garlic and shallots, plus a cous cous. Solid meal and wine for COCID-19 self quarantine and social distancing. — 16 days ago

Savigny-lès-Beaune Pinot Noir 1999

Just released a few months ago, and still so youthful after 20 yrs. Forest floor, mushrooms, cherry, and subtle cigar box flavors. Shows what a beautifully aged burgundy can be. — 5 months ago

La Forêt Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay

Popped and poured. Glorious Chablis. Fresh, vibrant with accents of ripeness, sea mist, apples, chalk, flint, rocks, citrus. I dare you to find a bottle of white wine for $24 that is as good as this, let alone a Chablis. I feel like Robert Conrad from the Eveready commercials in the 70's with a bottle of Vocoret on my shoulder. Go ahead, knock it off. I dare you! 92pts. — a year ago

Meursault Chardonnay 1997

Free tasting with Meaursult 2/28/20. powerful creamy butter mature fruits nose that evolved over minutes. Beautiful texture acids minerals dried flowers with long complex finish. Terrific. Color is white straw that looks like a new vintage. Stored in dark cold cellar these years. Amazing difference from the golden yellow of white Burgs stored in basement. Was going to buy $95 but ended up with 1 cru la piece sous — a month ago

Les Perrières Meursault 1er Cru Chardonnay 1994

Had this twice in 1 week. Even better this time. So nice and not over the hill. Acid there, mature flavors but in a youthful manner. — 5 months ago

Volnay-Santenots 1er Cru Pinot Noir 1993

Wet autumn leaves, earth, mushroom, very much secondary/tertiary aromas. Seamless tannins, medium finish. Almost Rhone like. — 2 years ago
