Nobles Rives Crozes-Hermitage Marsanne 2022

Vintage 2022 | Tasted blind next to a Chardonnay. My relationship with Marsanne is difficult. I found the wine strict, smoky, a bit grumpy. A honest wine, no pleaser. — a month ago

I am not general drawn to Marsanne. I find its nose and flavors a bit cloying, not in sweetness, but in a one-dimensional, almost chemical quality. On the other hand, I love Roussanne!

Nobles Rives Crozes-Hermitage Syrah

A nice, smooth French Syrah from the Hermitage appellation. Heavy yet smooth with that luscious mature red fruit - tobacco ending with a hint of chocolate that presents as a “fruity” old world French red. Pair with a meal or cheese…Great glass! — 3 years ago

Noble Rives Hermitage Syrah 2020

Darn solid for $37 at WTSO. An open, friendly style, the nose leads with dark berry ooze, coffee grounds, low-toned stony minerals, toasted baking spices. Rich and soft in the mouth, it’s got lots of dark, clingy fruit and dark earth notes, with a saline echo. Tannins are rich but buried in the voluptuous texture. Pretty decent acids. Not super complex nor an ager, this will be fun to drink with daubes (what I have on the stove) and the like over the next few years. — 3 months ago

Château Rives-Blanques

Conservatòri Limoux Mauzac Blanc

Conservatòri, 100% Mauzac Blanc. My first encounter with this heirloom varietal. Dry to slightly off dry, rounded mouthfeel. White floral, lime, underripe lemon and underripe orchard fruit flavors. Mineral finish. Refreshing and different. Medium body, acid, alcohol. Vanilla-like aftertaste. Some lactic character in the finish emerges after 30 minutes. Some history behind Limoux; look online for more — 4 months ago
