Wine was suggested by the magician himself @Ira Schwartz . We decanted the wine and it was needed. The wine developed well over the course of about 90 mins. At first it was a smooth mineral forward wine but developed some complex fruit flavors such a pear. It paired well with both the short rib lasagna and the sea bass my wife and I had that night. — 5 years ago

Wow 🤯 A field blend made up of 13 varieties from the fouteur de merde / magician, Deiss. Muscat and Gerwurztraminer dominate aromatically, but don’t be fooled—the wine is dry and balanced with just a hint of fruit, oh so many layers and a long finish laced with something exotic (ginger maybe?) So good.

Also, props for the ballsy but brilliant choice of comic sans or some other horrifically inappropriate font on the back label. Clearly no marketers were involved in the production of this wine.

100% Hárslevelű from Hungary’s Somló region. Deep gold color showing the age. Wet hay and dried apricot nose with honey undertone. Also reminds me of the sweet burnt caramel aromas of creme brûlée. On the palate sweet tropical fruit acidity (mango, pineapple), mineral and earth throughout. Heavy weight and plenty of texture puts this in the same league as some of the best Burgundy whites. From @sommselect dot com: This wine is farmed and crafted by Fekete Béla who is a 90-something-year-old unsung magician that turned a few acres of an ancient volcanic hillside terroir into thought-provoking wines with fathomless depth. Jean Claude Lapalu is a magician. Like its other cuvées, this wine is a nectare of fruit. 100% gamay, "natural" wine without sulphites added (or very little) ... a complete, round, harmonious and homogeneous wine from one end to the other. Carbonic maceration bringing a lot of freshness and an explosion of fruit / flowers on the palate. A wonderful comtempory wine for those who like fruit and freshness.
