This is a conversion port - to be given to the wine drinker who thinks they do not care for port. It is, before all things, a WINE - great fruit on the nose and tongue. Cranberry, raspberry and sweet cherries. The finish is where the port character comes in - sweet, unctuous, but not too sweet and unctuous. Just a delight. — 2 years ago

Vinho Regional Alentejano Tradicional Red Blend 2012

2012. We were pleasantly surprised how much we enjoyed this 10 year old, $10 dark red blend (maybe because our cellar is woefully under represented in dry Portuguese wines). Equal parts Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, Tinto Roriz; and Castelão. The fruit was deep but not jammy, smooth tannins, and a little acidity and brett to lift up the finish. — 3 years ago

Meandro Douro Red Blend 2020

Blend of 50% Touriga Nacional, 35% Touriga Franca, 10% Tinta Roriz, 4% Tinta Barroca & 1% Alicante Bouschet, aged in used French oak for 14 months, aromas of fresh dark berry flavors with herb, spice and cedar notes. On the palate flavors of blueberry and plum with licorice, cedar, espresso and spicy herbs. Fine ripe tannins, medium finish ending with fruit, cedar, spice and herb character. Quinta da Costa do Pinhão

Gradual 2015

Light bodied, juice low alcohol wine. Strong acidity, but enough body and tannins to balance it out. Should pare well with lamb or pasta. Definitely benefits from decanting.

Quinta do Vale Meão

Monte Meão Baga 2013

Rich cherry and black currant nose. Color is purple with a watery thin edge. In the mouth it is not as sweet as the nose is. There is a rather fresh acidity bringing balance. It will be accompanied by the veal cheeks and mash. Looking forward to that.
As the bottle was opened anyhow to use a glass in the stew we already started tasting 😉.
