Oh What Fun!

CJ Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2016

Another highly detailed set of notes lost by Delectable! Guys come on, I'm working here...

I'll try to remember what I had written, but now it won't be as eloquent. Muddled blue/black fruit on the nose and palate. Hints of black olive, anise, bell pepper. Full, round, satisfying body. Medium plus alcohol, medium acidity, firm yet smooth tannins. Super long finish. Hold or more fun... DRINK!

Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 1987

Magnum. Even after decanting around 6 hours the nose was still muted. Structure still there. What a fun treat. — 6 years ago

Wow what a fun wine. Light body but packs a little cool spicy punch. Perfect for drinking alongside sweet and savory Mexican dishes (chicken mole) — 7 years ago

Mas de Boislauzon

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2016

Decanted for a two hours before we got into this bottle and then consumed over the following three hours. This is one of the more unique producers from Chateauneuf du Pape as they are known to have the most prized and oldest Mourvèdre in the region. Initially, this had the funkiest aroma, almost that of a high school locker room. Thankfully, that blew off after about five minutes. What remained was a powerful, concentrated wine with a bouquet of red and blue fruits with garrigue and exotic spices. On the palate, red cherries and baked blueberries and an unmistakable kiss of black pepper. Very good acid and sneaky tannins; characteristic of the vintage. And while the 15% abv is kept fairly well in check, it does have a touch of heat on the finish. Fun to try one now but I expect this to show better after 2025. — 5 years ago

I’m a big fan of this producer’s CdRV. Those take some time to come around as well, in my experience.

Did not know what to expect. Had some solid mushroom jumping out of the glass at the beginning but that went away and some cherry fruit started showing up. What a fun experience. The cork even came out in one piece. — 7 years ago

Seavey Vineyard

Estate Grown Napa Valley Chardonnay 2018

Oh yes, this is exactly what I want in my Chardonnay. More Chablis than Côte de Beaune. A sublime mix of tropical fruit, lemon and minerals. Super crisp and wonderfully refreshing. The acid plays on the palate for over a minute. Impeccably well done and such an outlier from other Napa and Sonoma Chardonnays. — 6 years ago

"Love You Bunches" Carbonic Sangiovese

What a screaming fun wine! Low alcohol, unique, fruit forward but balanced, red berries and Italian herbs and some hints of balsamic. The texture was light with some slight effervescence. Thank you Stolpman for making unique and much needed wines! — 7 years ago

Touriga Nacional Rosé 2018

A light, clear salmon color in the glass. Floral dominate nose along with strawberry, orange peel, and honeydew. This is what they would call an elevated Rosé and it shows. Clean, pure fruit and amazingly dry. Very crisp and citrusy but above all, this is an actual interesting Rosé. Made from Touriga Nacional, this is exceedingly drinkable and so much fun. The palate follows the nose with dried herbs mingling with all of the beautiful fruit here. Such a delicious wine. — 7 years ago
