Like ocean — 10 days ago
Nose is fascinating this year. I get cucumber, mint, then citrus, and ocean. Palate is lemongrass, flowers, cucumber, a bit of heat, and lingering acidity. Will see how this years evolves. — 16 days ago
At East Bay Nasty Women Pinot Noir tasting. This might have been my favorite of the line up. I immediately, confidently (and very incorrectly) called Burgundy (Cote de Beaune) based on the texture—lithe with silky tannins that are ever so slightly rustic on the finish. Lovely purity of fruit - tart red cherry, rhubarb. Savory/herbal finish reminded me of the Sonoma Coast. At one point, the fruit ripeness would have screamed new world but with warmer and dryer recent vintages in Burgundy, that’s no longer a given.
This producer, like nearly everyone else in the world making Pinot outside of burgundy, cited Burgundy as their influence and has spent a good deal of time there, but in this case it really shows. Of course, there are likely details that make this uniquely Mornington-Penninsula-esque and I can’t pretend that I’ve had nearly enough Australian Pinots (shame on me!) to tell you what those are. This is one of the coolest growing regions in Australia, and these vines are grown in soils with a high % of sand.

Found this photo via search as I forgot to snap a bottle shot. I *think* the vintage was 2016. — a month ago
Moone Tsai tasting on our Nashville getaway. Started with the Chardonnay. Using our metal travel glasses, so there is no notes on color. The nose gives me an initial impression of the salinity of an ocean breeze over sea water. I also get pineapple on the nose. Mouthfeel is full-bodied. This wine is complex with hints of oak and a notes of creamy bananas foster. This is one of the best Chardonnay’s I’ve had. So much going on. — 15 days ago
Perhaps the best thing to come out of 2020. Love this wine. Earthier notes of pear and cucumber with lighter notes of lime zest and melon with a touch of an ocean air/sea brine. Full bodied like a chardonnay with a lively acidic finish and lots of cucumber/melon flavor. Would be amazing with any food you’d imagine one would order in santorini. 🍤 🐓 — 14 days ago
Nose is miraculous seashells. Pure clean ocean breeze. Fantastic. Gorgeous classic chablis.
Palate is so clean. Gods lemon juice. So mineral. Elite balance. Wow. So juicy.

Wow. Nose is the most vivid peach ever. Creamy as well. Stunning mineral depth. Sea air. Ocean Breeze. Slate galore. Insane mineral depth. The nose is so deep. My goodness. Stunning layering. Crunchy and concentrated. Wow. This is genius. So elegant, crunchy, concentrated and pure. Essence of Kabinett. Long as the day is in late June. Just beautiful. Structured and deep. Sappy and pure. Amazing flavorful. Stone fruits. What a long wine. Almost perfect. The balance here is amazing. Kab Trocken so hard to pull off and Martin does it as good as anybody. Yup this is a 9.6. Wow!
As this airs the nose gets more mineral and the peach blends much more with the slatey minerals. Herbs as well. This is mindblowing Kabinett. This is so juicy and joyous. This will go down almost too easy. — 7 days ago
