Chianti Station Sangiovese Blend 2023

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Red fruits on the nose with earth, spices, chocolate notes and herbs.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with cherries, red currants, earth, light wood, spices, espresso, herbs, green vegetables and peppercorn.

Short finish with grippy tannins and tart cranberries.

This is an interesting take on a Chianti from Alexander Valley. Still young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but a good food wine right now.

Showing nice complexity, but still a little grippy, once it opens up.
Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years and see how it evolves.

Will pair nicely with Pizza, or with Pasta with red sauce.

A field blend of Sangiovese with a touch of Canaiolo Nero, Malvasia, and Trebbiano. Aged in used French oak barrels for 17 months. A tiny production of only 1,300 bottles.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

Oily coating mouthfeel gives you just a touch of decadence before the mineral and acid cleans and refreshes your pallet. Ripe yellow Mellon, pineapple guava and a hint of lime and sweet grass. Stunning wine. — 5 years ago

Yarra Valley Shiraz Viognier Blend 2020

Lovely dark purple color, the Shiraz is black pepper and spice, with a quite tannic profile, the Viognier provides some lovely floral notes and acidity, longish finish, should easily improve for 2-4 more years. — 7 months ago

Failla

Occidental Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018

[Sorry couldn't find an entry, logging here Failla 2018 Pearl essence] Single clone - Martini. One taste it surely reminds me of a bottle of Burn Cottage I had a while ago - the same acid lift and acid structure, tomato leaf, sour cranberry, citrusy and bright, red flowers and white + black peppers. 400-500 feet inland, super cool microclimate. Ah it turns out both connected to ted lemon! — 4 years ago

SWK Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Beautiful nose of red and black fruits with light wood, black tea, spices, light licorice, chocolates, herbs and tobacco leaf.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, chocolates, tobacco, light cedar, herbs, licorice, light earth and black pepper.

Long finish with soft tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast. Rich and fruit forward. Elegant and complex. Nicely balanced and easy drinking, with a nice mouthfeel.

This 12-year-old Pinot Noir is drinking beautifully now, and drinking at its peak. Will continue to drink nicely in the next few years.

Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Intriguing & unique Cab. Spicy red fruit in the nose & through the palate. This yields some smoky/spicy notes on the mid palate & through the finish. Plenty of tannic structure persisting here. Under appreciated producer outside of Washington. Very nice bottle of Cabernet. — 6 years ago
