insanely good 1960. still fresh, vibrant, fruit is pure, a little smokey, and just delicious. — 7 months ago
Deep, dark amber.
Medium nose.
Sweet (not exceedingly so), tangy, smooth, well-balanced alcohol, fabulously long finish.
Orange, caramel, mocha, chocolate, fig, stewed plum, raisins, smoky almonds.
Rich, flavoursome, refined. Drinks like a Madeira with no Madeira greenness, much less searing acidity. Much softer. — 3 years ago
Commemorating a hopeful day with a wine of my approximate age, thanks to the generosity of some very good friends, the Slatterys. (Taking the cork out without a Durand was like battlefield surgery.) Still alive and kicking. Color is quite tawny at this point, but it’s so fragrant. Some rich fruit and loads of tertiary notes of mahogany and nutty notes. Not super sweet. Elegant and soft texture. Alcohol integrated beautifully. Long. — 4 years ago
