Haven't had a ton of Shiraz but I liked this one. Barrel forward but not unbalanced. Dark fruit prevalent throughout, blueberries stand out, balanced by vanilla and some baking spices l, I get a little chocolate on the tongue as well. Definitely a heavier hitter but would be great to share! Would have again. — 2 months ago

Holy heck one does not always expect a Zin to age well. But this worked. Thanks @David L for getting me into this wine! You get all the spice and ripe red fruit you'd expect in a zin that was 2-5 years. But at 11 years the complexity was garnished by leather and raisin notes. Cool wine. This bottle was chosen as our opening salvo for the Cellar Raid. We paired it with Kaluga caviar and let me tell you: it's hard to think of anything more hedonistic than taking bumps of caviar while sipping vintage Champagne. Okay, back to the wine. The 2006 D-L BdB currently pours a bright golden color and while still quite effervescent, the mousse is no longer persistent. On the nose, you're immediately hit with a fresh croissant to the face. There's also bruised apple, lemon bar, honey and almonds. On the palate, the wine is dry and has such a lovely, creamy and viscous texture. Acid is zippy enough. Apples, marzipan, lemon and a touch of butterscotch. A lovely, balanced Champagne that's aging so gracefully. I have one more bottle and plan to enjoy that in the next 5-7 years. — 3 years ago
