Definitely a bit off kilter, but I love it. Strawberry and cherry fruit, but just a bit, balanced by vegetal green pepper and spearmint, with a certain weirdly well integrated bitter funk. Gorgeous velvet texture. Grows on me with every minute open. — 5 years ago
Started a bit off kilter. But with about two hours of air started to come around and show those pure equine notes. — 7 years ago
Pear and juicy cool fresh cut fruit on the nose. Green apple, some mineral dust. Palate is refreshing and generous with the cool typicity of the Loire, never mind this is Chardonnay. A wine of terroir- but a little funky and off kilter.. But… Beware, started to turn microbial a day after opening. — 3 years ago
At this stage quite a tough wine to enjoy, even after a solid decant. Everything’s a little out of kilter at the moment, with the oak dominating it all. 91 points for the wine’s potential, as I’m sure age will do it plenty of favours. But still, not a patch on the fabulous 2015. — 3 years ago
Dark fruit. Sour cherry. Brackish water. Forest floor. Maduro wrapper. Blistered shishito. Palette of dark and sour cherry. Strong acid that guides you to the heavy tannic structure that awaits. Fruit is still holding on to provide some balance. But slightly off kilter (past prime?) to be considered a truly great Montelena. — 7 years ago
Third bottle of bubbles on a single evening… and surprisingly, the least impressive. Nice color but a hint of funky oxidation that never blew off. I love every Roses de Jeanne I’ve guzzled, but this one was just off-kilter on this particular evening. Still and all, 3 bottles of champagne and new live Jackson Browne on Austin City Limits makes for a very good night! — 3 years ago
Perfectly off kilter orange wine! — 6 years ago
Much more open than the Tignanello drank next to it, but wasn't as seamless. Very expressive ripe red berry fruit (jolly rancher?) and smokiness. It just seems the wine was a little off-kilter and didn't drink as easy as the Tignanello. But very good wine nevertheless. — 7 years ago

Lemon oil. Limestone. Perfumed but there are early signs of oxidation here that feel a bit out of kilter with its age. Stop tasty Drink up — a year ago
