Still had energy and read as Cali PN. Earthy cherry cola. — 6 years ago
Kanzler is primary a grower with Kosta Brown (its 2004 Kanzler Vineyard PN rated 98 points by WS, the highest ever for a US PN) their most prominent customer. With some juice coming from the same vineyard, this bottle is fantastic.
Initial burst of aroma of fresh strawberry, cherry, and blackberry slowly turned to mushroom, incense, and scent of violet. Oak is very well integrated. Lush yet lively palate with medium finish. 13 month in French oak, 40% new. Not cheap, but well worth the price. — 8 years ago
This is Bearwallow Pinot from Anderson Valley. Whereas the previous Kanzler was all about power and fruit, this is all about terroir. Black cherry and some dirty raspberry are very present, combined with a little bit of eucalyptus and allspice. However the notes of the soil are very present, and are really the backbone of this Pinot. Very good, but stark contrast from any of the other Pinots in this 2015 lineup in my opinion. Still damn good with dinner and beyond! — 9 years ago
From a Mag...surprisingly youthful...blackberry and cherry with boysenberry...enticing tart/sour mix-palate — 7 years ago
Just beautiful, tart red fruit, a touch of stems bring a bit of menthol and spice, it just makes me happy. — 8 years ago
4th Friday of the month means Classic Wine Storage happy hour! Great wines, as always, today!
My first Boar’s View Pinot. Maybe because it was enjoyed next to a RM Kanzler Pinot, but this wasn’t as large and cab like as I expected. Fruit was restrained, and it seemed coy. I got a lot of earthy and cedar/kirsch notes, with strawberry and rhubarb showing up at the end. Decant or hold. — 9 years ago
Martinelli fruit. Crisp and refreshing. — 11 years ago
Lush, succulent Pinot…dark ruby on pour, dark fruits rise out of the glass setting the stage for an enjoyable first sip…no noticeable tannins…lingering finish…this vintage is in a really good place today — 5 years ago
Black cherry, Dr Pepper, little pomegranate, went well with flank steak. — 7 years ago

Oh so savory. — 8 years ago
One of Kosta's bigger productions at 665 cases, this wine has a lot of complexity. Aged for 16 months in French oak (40% new). Deep red with ripe fruit and fresh floral aromas. On the palate the wine is a bit more timid with soft fruit flavors of cherry and currants and gentle spices mixing nicely together. Well balanced with vivid acidity, and woody notes on the lingering finish ending with a little tannic punch. Tasting Sample. — 10 years ago
