Château Pontet-Canet

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

We visited there in the early summer of 2015 and now we got to try the fruits of their labor in the vineyard we witnessed at that time. A bio-dynamic vineyard with horse and plow 😁. Their wines are fantastic. This wine was richer in fruit and more expressive than perhaps characteristic for the Pauillac region. But the layers of earth infused flavors and the most subtle hint of ‘barnyard’ made it a sensation. Topped off with a grippy finish keeping the flavors lingering in your throat. www.spokenwines.com. — 2 months ago

Viña Tondonia Gran Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 1995

Popped and poured; consumed over two days. My second time enjoying the 1995 Gran Reserva (the most recent release from LdH). The wine pours garnet with a translucent core accompanied by some fine sediment and a slightly watery rim. Medium viscosity. On the nose, high intensity and seems to have some VA. There’s also a little bit of the funk too. Highly perfumed with cherry, red rope licorice, balsamic, cumin, horse saddle, dill, and iron rich earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium++ acid. Tart cherries and again with the red rope licorice. Also, there are blackberries and plums, buzz buttons, iron, tomato, leather, olives and exotic spices. Long, savory finish. Despite being 26 years from vintage, the wine comes across super bright and fresh. Just lovely. — 2 years ago

Red Blend 2013

Mistakes at least 30 to 40 minutes to open up fully and when it does it is absolutely lovely. It tastes a lot like a pinot, white and fruit forward. — 3 years ago

Strawberry cola and some blackberry bramble. Nice finish. Not the most complex wine but pretty darn good. Fruit forward pinot with some balance. — a year ago

Draft Horse White North Coast White Blend 2019

Love this wine every year. Great nose and palate of white flowers, honey/honeysuckle, stones, a hint of tropical fruit and some underripe nectarine. So easy to drink and great qpr. — 3 years ago

Pip + Plow 2018 Merlot Washington
Discover Washington winemaking at its finest with this must-try award-winning Merlot In Washington’s cool climate, it’s the warmest vineyards that make a wine worth waiting for. And wait a little you must. In these regions, the grapes take their time to ripen and develop the distinct flavor that makes this Merlot unmissable. The experts at Pip + Plow combined the sites in Columbia Valley, Horse Heaven Hills and Wahluke Slopes to create an environment that lets this wine thrive. The result? A blend of black fruit flavors that glide across the palate with a soft velvety finish. Look out for plum and blackberry with heady notes of tobacco and clove simmering beneath the surface. Enjoy with family and friends over a roast turkey and homemade cranberry sauce. Judges love it too! It took home a Silver medal at the 2020 Toast of the Coast Competition. It retails for $24

Mendocino County Carignane Rosé 2021

Always a great wine. I can’t believe I’ve never added it. I think I’ve always poured for parties or at the pool. Great acidity, great fruit, great with all foods. Enough backbone to stick up to meaty bbq but delicate enough to go with ceviche. Highly recommend. — 8 months ago

Big captivating aromas of roast beef with horse sweat and saddle nose. Spice and iron compounds the palate. I was concerned it might be past it’s prime at age 26 but fine structure and black cherry fruit is still at the fore. That said, time to drink up. — 2 years ago

The Gardener Sonoma County Pinot Noir 2018

Very nice Pinot, crushed rocks, cherries, herbs, a hint of smoke, more tart berries on the finish. After some air it reminds me of a very tart berry crumble a la mode with a bit of smoke. Interesting. — 3 years ago
