Kloster Eberbach Baiken Riesling Trocken 2011 (Gutsabfüllung aus dem Cabinetkeller, Rheingau)
Big, complex nose with lovely (although far from finished) maturity (petrol, struck match, butter). There’s also honey and ripe yellow fruit (and lots of it).
Wine is intensive on palate with a high, singing acidity. Nice mix of concentrated tropical fruits, spice and maturity notes such as honey, petrol, which makes the palate even more complex than the nose. Finish is long and like nectar.
With all the mature notes sitting in the first seat along with a high acidity - I would really like to try it again with some mature hard cheese. — 4 years ago
Although the Rheingau dominates in Riesling, the region’s Pinot Noirs are also noteworthy. From one of the oldest wine makers there, this Spätburgunder is light, balanced acidity, and beautiful layers of fruit. — 3 months ago
Sour redcurrants, soft oak vanilla, hospital ward plasters, forest floor, there's a hint of rosemary in there- all on the nose. You smash it back and the cherries and violets come out, fresh, incredible acidity and tannin structure. Probably shouldn't have opened in 2018 but there's plenty going on here and the fresh primaries and unreal levels of fresh acidity make this a joy. — 4 years ago
This bottle a bit muted relative to last few fireworks. Undeniably burgundian build but somehow screaming Cote-Rotie / St Joseph fruit profile. Dazzling. — 4 months ago
Nice, good balance, sugar is fully integrated — 2 years ago
A gift from my son in Germany. Hi it’s of honey and crisp green apples upfront. Only mildly sweet then a dry finish. — 3 years ago
