2003 Carneros Merlot. WOW. Can’t remember the last time I had a bottle this good. We were saving it for a special occasion and it had aged beautifully. Deep, velvety fruit. Incredibly smooth and balanced. — 8 years ago
Excellent, dry and affordable. Good for dinner party. Pairs well with steak. — 8 years ago

Still holding together quite nicely after 19 years. Seamless, and mouth filling. Impressed. — 2 years ago
Big peppermint/candy cane aroma and taste with some underlying herb. Really unique. I wouldn’t buy again though. — 6 years ago

Black currents on the nose with a bit of leather. Easy on the palate with raspberry and decent tannins. Coombsville seems to never disappoint — a year ago
2005 great wine and company thanks Jack — 4 years ago
Soft tannins, deep black berries, delicious well rounded cab — 7 years ago
Abundant flowers on the nose. Mouth feel is chocolate covered cherries but not for long. The finish becomes flowers again with very light grass and teaberry. Good stuff. — 7 years ago

Dark violet in the glass. Soft, earthy aromas of soil, blueberries, and dark chocolate. Vanilla, a bit of menthol, and spice come to play, as well. Lighter than I saw coming, with a smoothness, despite the overall bigness of the wine. Chocolate cake, Newports, and cherry cola on the palate, with just a touch of dark soil there too. Nice acidity and a not so bad finish featuring vanilla and warm spices. The problem is, absolutely nothing about this screams "Oakville" to me. Not even a little bit. Just a pretty decent sub-$25 Napa Cab. No, not the $65 that WTSO claims, but $25. Overall, not a bad bottle just don't expect to be wowed. — 9 years ago

@Delectable Wine This is the 2023 Havens Napa Valley Zinfandel. Supposedly from mature (40 yr old) vines, it’s a great value in a soft, interesting and balanced (only 14.5% alc) Zin. Nose has ripe, oozy blackberry fruit, some of that nice Napa gravelly earthiness, and a mocha note. Big whack of soft, sultry fruit on the opening palate, with everything in nice proportion. Very soft texture. This is a Zin for drinking now, not ageing.
