Still deep ruby. A little bottle funk then a more red-fruited nose than one would expect, given the color. Some wood and tobacco notes that make it very Bordelaise but still fruit forward. I think this is the precursor of Las Piedras? — 8 years ago

I remember purchasing this wine in the mid-1990s. There were about 20/$25 a bottle. Very enjoyable. Actually visited and stayed at that house in Lake County.

Out of magnum. Your nose is greeted by plums and hints of vanilla. In the mouth silky dark fruit with well integrated oak and acid. Definitely Bordeaux like in its development. — 10 years ago

Emotionally this bottle for me and my family was "11" Given to my family by a dear friend and wine mentor when he closed his restaurant . Unfortunately he died way two young. Never failed to open a special bottle when my family celebrated a special occasion. '99 DRC Duvault, '59 Gaunoux Corton Renardes, ' 92 Rousseau Clos de Beze.

I'll walk down to my cellar sometimes and pull bottles of wine that bring back so many memories. When I eventually do drink them, I'm always afraid those memories will fade away. What an emotional story… here's hoping you're able to think of the positive also as you enjoyed drinking it.
