Oenotheque Extra Brut Champagne 2006

this is Oenoteque, not yet listed in Delectable, only 90 bottles made. It’s extra-brut and 2006. It’s really good. Might be a bit dry for my taste, hides the fruit a bit. I know nothing about the wine. — 17 days ago

Héritage Cuvée Brut Champagne Blend

Tannish gold with quickly dissipating white mousse and fine persistent bubbles. Abundant nose of baked apples, toasted brioche, and a hint of ash. Medium palate echoes the nose with firm, mouthwatering acidity. Lengthy, apple and quince finish. A great value from the second oldest Champagne house, the Heritage Cuvée Brut is an excellent companion for any fine meal, special celebration, or the meal you make a celebration. Drink it when you buy it. — 9 days ago

Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Les Grandes Crayères 1er Cru 2015

Chalk, seashell, green apple and green gooseberries. Some lily and honeysuckle. And white pepper on the finish. Powerful, tensely coiled, with screaming acid. Not super approachable now but serious wine that should age well. — 16 days ago

Instantanée Extra Brut Champagne Blend 2012

Pale straw with more than enough small bubbles. Medium intensity nose of tropical fruits and sweet honey. It’s a touch shy for quite a while but when it does blossom, it blossoms. White peaches and fresh lemons abound here.

35/35/30 CH/PN/PM with 3 g/l dosage so it has that refreshing bite. Six years on lees and disgorged in January of 2020 so there is some nice maturity here. Balance is the word. This is one of the most expertly balanced champagnes I’ve tasted. Everything in it’s proper place and finely tuned.

Plenty of complexity and finesse on the palate. Citrus flavors dominate all day long. Let this sit for an hour or two so it has time to evolve. It’s smooth, sleek, and more than a bit sexy. Really good today, much better a year from now.
