The Pixie Red Mountain Syrah 2008

Even though I was drinking the 2008 and 2024, this still took several hours of
decanting to open properly. Once it did, it really showed out – notes of dark fruit, like blackberry, but mostly luscious notes of leather, bacon fat, oak and tobacco. The last sip I took was the best sip. Really good.

The Albatross Cabernet Sauvignon Petit Verdot 2008

Wonderful fruit for a 16 year old wine. Still lots of structure, flavour was smooth and fruit large. Colour just on the verge of brick with lots of red and purple still. Would still be good for another 5-10 years. Cork broke, had to decant but glad we did. — 3 months ago

Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

Drank it with my Mom on her 82nd birthday. It has aged beautifully. The cork broke but we decanted and let air for two hours. Mild fruit but balanced acid and tannin expression was soft. Finish was medium and velvety. — 7 months ago

Château Monbousquet

Saint-Emilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Ripe red cherry, sanguine characters, fruit cake [giveaway: St Emilion] allspice, tobacco. High tannins (the grip indicates a vintage with heat spikes) — tasted at the blind tasting session by Mary Gorman-McAdams — 5 years ago

The Devil You Don't Know Cabernet Sauvignon Syrah Mourvedre Petite Sirah 2018

Bold up front. Disappears on the back end. Heavier beef stock type flavor to it. Not too fruity. We enjoyed this one and it was easy to drink. -2018 vintage — 4 years ago
