Meshach Barossa Red Blend 2012

2012 vintage. Heavy/full body. Aggressively-oaked nose (still...after a decade+). Dark as motor oil. Plenty of ripe fruits with the entire endeavor in (somewhat) check. Some tannins bringing up the rear after the call was placed. Not amongst my usual jams but well made. Punch/takeoff for another two decades should it come to that. 4.21.24. — 4 days ago

Sonoma Mountain Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 1997

Really? Wow. At 26 years old, not only hanging in there… but highly enjoyable. The mustiness had to blow off for a while, and then it hit its stride. Some toasty fruit remains in front of a long finish. cheers to ending 2023. …. Still going. Finish still going…. Going… — 4 months ago

Patrick Campbell "got it." Only Cabernet Sauvignon from ANY producer with the word "Sonoma" on the label that I've ever had that absolutely kicked ass and took names. Can still taste the 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1994. The new version of Laurel Glen Cab is a far cry from what it used to be. Lucky you got a fleeting glimpse of a great vintage from an excellent property under the guidance of a supremely underrated winemaker. Happy New Year!

Stone Cellar Grüner Veltliner

Ah Gruner.

Nice clear pale yellow.

Melon, mineral, tropical fruits, pineapple, and a bit of petrol.

Slight slight effervescent quality. Great, solid expression of gruner. Chalky, loamy, pineapple, and limestone.

Filsell Old Vine Barossa Shiraz 2017

After finding Australian cabs so and so, I am pivoting back to Shiraz. That’s where AUS shines, and this wine is a great example. Deep and intense flavors, structure and a long finish. Delicious. — 5 months ago

Barossa Ink Shiraz 2020

Deep purple in color; black plum, black cherries, and black pepper on the nose; medium plus acidity; medium tannins; tastes like blackberry jam, plum sauce, and a hint of eucalyptus with a long peppery finish. Nellie likes it with Popeyes Spicy Fried Chicken. I was surprised it paired so well with spicy chicken. Be forewarned that it made the chicken even more spicy, but the flavors went really well together. I love this wine. — 7 months ago

Laurel Glen

Cabernet Sauvignon 1985

Shows a little of the bell pepper aromas that I often found in older Sonoma Cabs, but nicely balanced fruit that is still quite youthful, tannins have mostly receded, drinking quite well tonight, bravo Patrick for making this gem!! — 6 months ago
