Fee-nominal…the winner (so far) of the 2010’s PV challenge. At 11.5 years from harvest, this beauty from Matthieu Finot sang like a concentrated Right Bank medoc…layers of dark berries, violet & herbs with smoky matting. Still proving enough tannic punch to cut through house grilled cheeseburgers and squash. Bold yet balance. Thank you Ellen for this wonderful gift :) — 4 years ago
It's #AgedWineTuesday today. Here is a delicious one from California.
This 20 year old has a gorgeous nose.
Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with black fruits, cedar, vanilla, licorice, earth, green olives, spices, peppercorn, leather, tobacco and green vegetables.
Nice finish with spices and tangy raspberries.
What a great nose on this Syrah. Reminds me of a Napa Syrah.
Fruits are on the decline, by now, but it is still interesting and enjoyable by itself. Good with food too.
What a score.
I paired it with short ribs with truffled mushrooms.
12.4% alcohol by volume.

An excellent 2012 Sangiovese from a small winemaker in Glen Ellen (and a former general contractor who retired to make fab wines). We had it at a local restaurant in July 2013 and just had to visit the winery before leaving wine country ( & it was mid morning) and we were impressed...we have been hooked since then. Uncorking this amazing bottle for tonight's dinner is a celebration of over 4 years of great times and a new chapter! — 9 years ago

Tasted at the Talisman tasting room in Glen Ellen and of all their wonderful Pinots i especially loved this one and bought it. — a year ago
Enjoyed on Thanksgiving around the table at our new house. 🦃 Pairs well with turkey and potatoes. We were looking for Edna Valley and settled for Ed, but it all worked out well.

I usually hate chardonnay, but I really liked this and will probably buy again because it is so affordable! Light pineapple notes. — 9 years ago
Jordan Kivel Stadt and the "Rent" have been experimenting and making some amazingly brilliant wines over in Sonoma (Glen Ellen)! Following many of the true southern French styles and techniques. He not only bottles them, but puts many on his 'wine on tap' system, that pours out at the exact temperature by varietal (my pet peeve). Wonderful White with good acidity and fuit balance. — 10 years ago
This is a perfect introduction to Glen Scotia. I’ve loved every sip I’ve taken of every Glen Scotia and this is kind of their house style and it’s most basic and straightforward form. I can’t say the “double barrel” added a huge amount of oakiness, but I prefer it that way. This features the great Glen Scotia notes of caramel, tobacco, stewed apples, brine and a little bit of smoke. A pretty amazing value. — 2 years ago

Great with Tomato Cream Pie pizza a la Glen Ellen Star — 9 years ago
This was a Chardonnay, or got it during my visit to Glen Ellen in 2005 with Barry. The wine stored since 11 years still tasted fabulous, young fruits, beautiful finish on the palette. Soft nutty after ysstes. Lovely yellow golden color. — 9 years ago
My last bottle 😂. Wish I could get more, any varietal, old label "Valley of the Moon". Need to go back to Jack London State Park. I love Glen Ellen, Ca. — 10 years ago
