This was an exciting surprise! My first impression of the 2011 vintage and reminds me why I adore this wine so much. The nose displays oxidative notes that give it a sherry-like character. Lovely strawberry, watermelon, and porcini. From an intellectual standpoint, this was a really fun wine on its own but it becomes even more exciting with the introduction of food. Unlike, most rosado wines, there’s a good amount of structure with some pretty noticeable tannins. Definitely a rosado for heartier meals. Today, it was paired with a tarte flambée topped with octopus and salsa verde and while this modern spin on Flammekueche was delicious, I think this Rosado was a little overpowering for the pairing. A unique wine that is stylistically more like their Blanco…and unlike anything else you’ve likely ever tried. The closest thing I can think of would be Chateau Musar’s equally elusive Rosé…and even that one isn’t as left field as this. — 4 years ago
Splash decanted directly before service; enjoyed over the course of a few hours out of red Solo cups. The 1981 Gran Reserva Blanco pours, a golden color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of Khalas dates, dried apricot, black lemon, almonds, toasted coconut and marshmallow. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and the texture is waxy. A cerebral wine and just lovely stuff. Well stored bottles have a long life yet left ahead. Drink now with patience and plenty of air and through 2051. — 7 months ago
Silky, smooth, light and refreshing but with enough substance behind it to make it a good choice for the price. — 6 years ago
Delicious and light, drinks like a beaujolais. Great carbonic maceration. — 7 years ago
Jura liqueur so evocative & multilayered-4 under 20$ this & the blanco(which is my favorite) r go 2 post meal. Think paint studio meets Jura high toned fruit — 12 years ago
Following on from the 2005 Blanco Reserva, the Tinto Reserva from the fabled 2001 vintage was in fact a little underwhelming, perhaps given lofty expectations and the exceptional white we’d just enjoyed. This was in a lovely spot, offering plenty of mellow enjoyment but not a great deal more. — 3 years ago
Flagship wine from Quinta Milu, a tiny artisanal operation by young winemaker German R. Blanco. Unfiltered, fresher-style Tempranillo from some of the estate’s oldest vineyards (70-100+ years old) located at elevations of almost 900m in La Aguilera, one of the coolest, and most sought-after areas within the Ribera del Duero appellation. Smooth and balanced. Plums, dark cherry. Chocolate and mentol notes — 6 years ago
