Served to me by Giovanni Manetti but you didn’t hear that from me—he’s president of the Chianti Classico Consortium but DAMN this is good wine and he’s tilting at changes in the region to ever improve all the wines. I couldn’t NOT mention this tho, thrilling just to smell, savory and richly fruited, and complex beyond…cherry cordial, mint, chocolate, blackberries, cheerful and serious all at once. This guy apparently has worked with all the top sangiovese handlers such as Palmucci, Gambelli, Manetti and so on, but lost the train to become famous and still he is doing the right thing
This is just more than an ordinary Montecucco and fits perfectly in the "serious sangiovese" bracket. I expect it to age beatifully for quite a while. Demeter producer. — 2 years ago

This blend of Nero d’Avola, Frappato (locally called Nerocapitano), and Grenache is a Sicilian beauty! 💕 🇮🇹

It was lovingly nurtured and cultivated by hand and in a manner paying respect to the land from which it came, with minimal intervention, by husband and wife team Filippo and Nancy Rizzo. 🍇 🍷👌

👁 It’s a medium purple hue.

👃 On the nose it has a medium(+) intensity of youthful, bright, and yet savory aromas that include ripe raspberry, plum, black cherry, rhubarb, violet, clove, nutmeg, peppercorn, licorice, leather, tobacco, wet earth, and game.

👄 On the palate this wine is dry. It has medium acidity, a medium(+) body, medium alcohol, medium tannins, and medium intensity of flavors consistent with the nose. The finish lingers. 👏👏👏
