Popped and poured; no formal notes. While the Goutorbe was ready for the business, this 2016 from Gimonnet was more of a discussion about its potential. This Special Club bottling showcases Oger and naturally, is a 100% Chardonnay BdB. I like where it’s headed, it’s just so youthful and tightly coiled. Loads of minerals and acid. Needs time. Wonderful! They talk about Champagne that “belongs on the dinner table,” and this is one. We paired it with a Korean roast pork (Bo Ssam) and it was magnificent. Bright and powerful, it was the perfect fool for the rich and delicious pork. I’m pretty sure it would be just as tasty if you drank it on its own! — a month ago

2011. Last bottle of L’Argentier. It was great to have multiple bottles their Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, and Rosé in the cellar this past decade. Always drinkable and great with food. The Grenache was my favorite, but the age on this Cinsault mellowed out the tartness and underripe flavors I noted early on. Big cherry on the nose and initial taste, then some spicy earth and smooth tannins. — 2 months ago

Ruby red color with some purple highlights. Intense fruit forward aromas and flavors of ripe cherry and blueberry. Hints of garrigue, spices and minerals. Smooth tannins for a young wine.
