Dominio Fournier

Dominio de Atauta

Ribera del Duero Tempranillo 2020

Expressive nose of dark cherries, blackberries, clove, strawberry, a hint of caramel, well integrated oak. In the mouth the tannins are still harsh, thinner Ribera (this is Soria, they filmed Dr Zhivago here). Drunk too young (the story of my life) — 18 hours ago

WotN in a group of giants. Ping-pongy fireworks of flavor bursts none of which cancels out the others. Kept coming back to this. Wow. — 7 months ago

Worth seeking out! If I'm correct the white one is harder to get. I got some reds as well but haven't tried yet.

Chamboureau Savenniéres Chenin Blanc 2014

Lovely bottle of Savennieres, honeyed, still excellent balancing acidity, long finish, getting ready to grill some farm-raised sturgeon to pair with it. — 2 months ago

Sturgeon! I haven’t had that since I waited tables at a high-end Philly fish restaurant 40+ years ago!

@Tom Casagrande, actually Sacramento, near the airport, is one of the largest sources of caviar (and of course sturgeon) in the U.S., so it’s relatively cheap and also plentiful year round here — I just indirect grill it, and my wife may put a simple lemon butter sauce on it.
