Chanlin-Hauts Pommard Pinot Noir 2018

Red Burgundy at its finest: roses + forest floor + sweet red cherry… If you know, you know! This cannot be explained, only encountered, much less replicated… Rare vintage which tastes exceptional while young. Drinking window is ten mins to about an hour after opening before it starts oxidizing. Fun fact: Pommard is the only appellation for Red Burgundy without Grand Crus. If you do your research, your village and 1er Crus can offer amazing qpr. Catchy! Cheers. — a year ago

We just returned from Burgundy and were amazed with the wines. Super vibrant, loaded with minerality and a surprising strong tannin structure. We visited Chateau Pommard and amazed by the diverse ‘climats’ in just 30 acres resulting in vastly different wines. All based on Pinot Noir…. amazing grape. So expressive of its environment. As you said they don’t have the elevation to qualify for Grand Crus but they sure know how to get the most out of their terroir. Enjoy!

Taillepieds Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2015

Delectable Wine
9.2

The 2015 Volnay Taillepieds 1er Cru shows a bit of reduction on the nose, eventually clearing to offer undergrowth and bay leaf infused red fruit. The palate is underpinned by firm tannin, impressive depth. Quite a complex and grippy Volnay with superb length. Pascal Roblet has really got a handle on this Volnay. I can see this ageing with style and panache. (Neal Martin, Vinous, July 2018)

Hautes Cotes de Beaune Pinot Noir 2016

Very dark rubi robe, nose of dark cherries and a hint of spices, pronounced tannins (whole clusters?) and a good medium body and length. Will be better in 3 years. Really good stuff ! — 3 years ago

Started out a little mossy then turned pretty hard into a deep, mushroom thing on the nose. — 7 years ago

Le Val Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Very 2008 vintage with cool red fruit tones, a hint of sous bois and spice. The wine is fresh and bright in the palate. Red cherry, cranberry and pomegranate fruit are surround by great fruit tannins. This is lithe and focused. — 3 years ago
