This defies description. It's high-octane fuel in need of a decadent dessert. Super sweet with the alcohol firmly in the background. Very interesting example which I hope finds a market, somewhere... — 9 years ago
From 50+ year old (and even some 150+ year old old pre-phylloxera) vines. A really intriguing wine that needs food. Intense tannins + high acid that find their balance. Aromatic w/ lacquer (helloooo VA, but just enough to add a needed little lift), pepper steak, black plum, violet, cinnamon, paraffin, smoke. All of that plus a lingering exotic spice on the palate. Ideally paired with something rustic and fatty (we settled for lentils). Good winter warmer. — 10 months ago

Madiran is famous for its wines of character, deep and intense, requiring a lot of year of aging. Here it's quite another thing. A wine that honors Tannat, in a greedy cuvée, juicy, "on the fruit" to drink on its youth. Beautiful silky texture in the mouth. Nice winemaking savoir faire. An easy wine, to drink young.
— 2 years ago
