Domaine De Pellehaut

Domaine Leflaive

Puligny-Montrachet Chardonnay 1985

This is in incredible shape for a 32 year old village wine. Light and clear with a chalky minerality. Delicate lemon and a resolved slatiness. A creamy quality and hints of age but incredibly precise and delicious. Not hugely intense or long, but lovely. Whoever is overseeing their winemaking now and the awful levels of premox really should look back in the cellar and try to get back to this. — 5 days ago

Hanging may be a little harsh. Perhaps a few years on Rikers Island?

Ok. And drinking only post-07 Leflaive.

That seems fair- as long as he has to pay market price for them all

Domaine Duroche

Estournelles Saint-Jacques Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2015

Bright dark cherry & berry fruit with a nice core of mineral & spice. Good weight, balance & length on the finish. Like most of the 15’s that I have tried this opened up after 1 hr in the decanter & was very approachable. — 7 days ago

Domaine Méo-Camuzet

Les Rouges du Bas Echezeaux Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2009

An impressive, rich nose of ripe red fruit with cherry, a hint of black pepper and an undertow of darker blue stuff. A really beautiful, kalideascopic bouquet. There’s a lovely lifted quality here but the fruit is intense. On.the palate dense, and still hiding a lot, but this is glorious quality. Too young for this now, really- in a decade it’ll be spectacular... but the fruit is so slutty it’s a pleasure now anyway. — 15 days ago

hardly ever see Meo around here. Nice!

Domaine Roulot

Les Meix Chavaux Meursault Chardonnay 2004

Light straw gold color. Nice weight in the glass. Citrus nose with notes of honeydew, spice and some gravel stone. Surprisingly fat and rich in the mouth. Ok finish. Lacking the strong acidity spine I was expecting. Not sure what to make of this.... will it get better with more age, is it in an awkward phase, will it improve with more air... the jury is out. — 7 days ago

doesn’t sound like typical Roulot, does it?

Domaine Coffinet-Duvernay

Blanchots Dessus Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2010

The view from Blanchots Dessus in Chassagne-Montrachet... from the left Le Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet... Mecca for Chardonnay. I think time stopped and choirs of angels sang for just a moment after my first sip... this is glorious... White peach meets lemon meringue and it’s beautiful. And in the second act, fresh apple meets spiced butterscotch. Ethereal but dense. Intense but elegant. Probably the best white I’ve had in years. — 2 days ago

Sur La Velle Monthelie 1er Cru Chardonnay 2014

My 1st time trying this Meursault from Leflaive. Bone dry austere style with intense mineral, floral & acidity, stone fruits, citrus & white flower. — a day ago

Domaine Rouges-Queues

Envol Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2015

Youthful ruby color fading to watermelon pink on the rim; tart red fruits and mossy dank earth, enough funkiness to be mistaken for a Jura blend. Pretty kickass for generic Burg Rouge — 10 days ago

Les Genévrières Meursault 1er Cru Chardonnay 2015

Nose is showing a bit of wood out of the gates but under that is a gorgeous core of limestone, lime lest, airy minerals, some richness and you can tell there is more to come. Very refined. Palate is rich and powerful with great freshness and fruit intensity. It grips your palate. Classic Genevrieres opulence married with tension. Amazing density and texture with just explosive juiciness and acidity. Terrific length. Mineral tinged fruit soaked finish. This is terrific. — 2 days ago

Always better in two years. But sick wine.

Domaine Leflaive

Clavoillon Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2010

A lovely, quite ripe nose with honeysuckle, preserved lemons, honey and a lifted chalkiness. On the palate round and quite lush with a tart end to the midpalate. Citrus (grapefruit?) notes and a pretty finish. Not profound, and lacks a little of the cut and zip of some leflaives but an absorbing wine. — 9 days ago

Domaine Fourrier

Vieille Vigne Griottes-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2007

Dark and intense with brooding blue fruit and brambly red currant. Much more intense and darker than the Chezeaux. On the palate, savory and bright tartness. Lovely and fresh. Later picked probably, but still good structure. Not amazing length and depth, probably due to the vintage, but lots of fun — 10 days ago
