One of my favorite Rhone producers. Dark fruit, spice, meat. Very Northern Rhone, like a St. Joseph. Well balanced and excellent pair with pan seared skirt steak. — 7 years ago
My first experience with a "single vineyard" st cosme. Loved the nuanced smoky pig that elevates the black fruit and spices and makes this one such a quick drinker. — 8 years ago

Forge Cellars is an intriguing collaboration between Louis Barruol, proprietor of St. Cosme in Gigondas, wine grower Rick Rainey, and vintner Justin Boyette. Their 2014 'Classique' Pinot Noir is fine-boned and poised with floral, woodsy aromatics of decaying rose petals, hibiscus, underbrush, and sous. It's translucent quinacridone violet with lean, elegant curves underpinned by high-toned red berries, rose hips and crushed stone that tapirs to a lingering finish. 12.3% ABV | Sample — 9 years ago
Wow, difference in these two…Graillot…big sour/tart cherry, not a lick of blackcherry and razor acidity combined with the tart fruit…absolutely need food as not enjoyable by itself. Meat/pepper with smoke which I like…but perhaps to much semi carbonic as it felt it had some effervescence? Maybe flaw, maybe intentional but certainly a great conversation bottle…St cosme…tame and more black:red fruit, acid slightly less and overall more balanced…ive had 16 Graillot last year…don’t remember it being quite that acidic! — 3 years ago

As always love St. Cosme styel with their Condrieu. Great balanced of freshness, aromatics, texture and alcohol. Can sense the warmth of the vintage in the phenolic grip here. Beautiful almost red wine like florals, violet and lavender. — 3 years ago
