La Badina

Costa della Sesia Vespolina 2018

Lyle Fass
9.4

A superb Vespolina. Unreal nose of blackberry pastille, cherry flower, spices, herbs and tons of lavender. What a nose. Gorgeous. Clearly defined. Soil tones and intense fruit on the nose. A sick nose. Really blown away. Palate has that same clearly defined fruit with typical rustic Vespolina tannins and awesome jelly donut fruit with huge mineral and terrific freshness. Nose becomes pretty floral as well with air. Really refined for Vespolina and super long finish and wonderful fruit purity on the finish. So wonderful and La Badina’s secret weapon.

With air this has gone from 9.3 to 9.4. Stunning depth and texture and extraordinarily long finish. Just awesome.

Brunate - Le Coste Barolo Nebbiolo 2006

Italian menu tonight so wanted a nice Barolo. This Rinaldi hit the spot with its finesse, aromatics & structure showing red fruits, leather, dried tea, rose petal with balsamic notes & tobacco. — 8 days ago

G.D. Vajra

Coste & Fossati Dolcetto d'Alba 2016

Inky dark purple is the appearance of this Dolcetto, which Vajra indicates has ‘power and elegance’. That’s completely right, as the wine has a certain thickness and darkness combined with a lively freshness. Named after the 2 vineyards from which the wine was derived, Coste di Vergne and Fossati, this is a terrific Dolcetto! — 3 days ago

Ripazzo Lazio Procanico Malvasia

Great orange wine
I guess it might even be hard to reproduce
The must was fermenting for a year, but hadn't finished its work, so to give it a kick the man drops the skins used in the next year wine which had better luck with completing its own process.
It is a wine that has been helped from the future!!!
The result is so surprising and enjoyable
The wine is orange and brilliant
Fruity, mineral and full on on fermentative notes with a marvellous freshness that doesn't leave you alone.
Long...and ....you need a magnum, I am telling you
