Franc Friday continues. A completely different beast than the Detert. This is more restrained and less ripe but absolutely elegant and delicious. Medium bodied, with more floral than fruit notes, this still offers some fruit but skews more savory (yet lacks the green/olive flavors). Paired exceptionally well with food. — 7 years ago
My cab franc binge continues, and this one ranks among the best Cab francs I've ever had. @Carl Fischer and I are "cab franc nerds" (a smaller group of the Wine Nerd Herd crew 😂), and we agreed to introduce each other to our favorite cab francs. This was my first from his batch and I wonder if the bar is now set too high! If I had to summarize this wine, it would be that everything is in sync. All the pieces feel well aligned and brought together appropriately. Initially, I want to talk about the nose...that oiled leather, pepper, currants and vanilla, but then I go back to the beautiful acidity, texture, medium bodied, rush of blackberries, plum and floral notes. I keep going back and forth. Feel like that's the signature of a great wine...you can't decide which component is your favorite. @Pam Starr , this is a beautiful wine. Carl, you are off to a hot start my friend. Looking forward to seeing how the Detert shows! — 8 years ago
One of my favorites. — 5 months ago
A Napa Cabernet Franc tasting with the family today. The Detert and the Larkin were the favorites of the group; both had gorgeous black cherry and blueberry fruit with terrific aromatic intensity. The Gandona Meia and the Studio Seven-Fifty need more time. The Turnbull was slightly corked. — 7 years ago

This wine is super refined and elegant. The amount of acid was noticeable at this point - and the tannins are strong even after a four plus hour decant. This is one for the long haul. It was cool to taste this side by side with the ‘12 vintage as well as next to the ‘12 regular Estate. All so different yet all so good. Such wonderful wines it’s sad they’re no longer making them. — 7 years ago

Inspired by @Peggy Hadley and her visit with @Tom Garrett - I had to open my favorite vintage of this wine so far. So incredibly delicious I can’t say enough good things. Silky mouthfeel, great red fruits, graphite, leather, medium acidity, soft tannins - just so incredible. Pop and pour goodness. — 7 years ago
