Thank you @David L for my Christmas in July WNH present - Sunday night zoom - we became secret Santa’s - amazed how well we did finding and sending covertly wines to others in the group and tasted blindly - this wine to me represents all that I enjoy from Napa and small production wineries - did not decant - Should have - by 2.5 hours mark this wine was in full attack mode - blueberry pie cedar tobacco- legs forever - tannins were supple - color was incredible- I thought because we did not decant that it was a 80/90 decade but the lack of decanting was fooling me - definitely new world and Napa - I got that - after decanted I would said 2010 2012 or 2013 - loved it and thanks again @David L for being Santa for coming to visit and for this lovely gift - by the way - I think you might have exceeded the spend limit lol - final thought - will cellar for 10 to 15 years but it is approaching the proper drinking window — 6 months ago

Thank you @David L @Shawn R @Martin G Rivard @Joe Lucca - for coming to Brooklyn on a Sunday night!
This wine is super refined and elegant. The amount of acid was noticeable at this point - and the tannins are strong even after a four plus hour decant. This is one for the long haul. It was cool to taste this side by side with the ‘12 vintage as well as next to the ‘12 regular Estate. All so different yet all so good. Such wonderful wines it’s sad they’re no longer making them. — 3 years ago
Franc Friday continues. A completely different beast than the Detert. This is more restrained and less ripe but absolutely elegant and delicious. Medium bodied, with more floral than fruit notes, this still offers some fruit but skews more savory (yet lacks the green/olive flavors). Paired exceptionally well with food. — 3 years ago
What an incredible second day here in Napa. Jesus started us off with an amazing tasting at Davies/Schramsberg, Crocker & Starr gave us our cab franc fix, Montagu & Addax put on a double tasting, and Hourglass knocked it out of the park at the end of the day! I won’t post each wine we tasted, but I’ll highlight the best from each spot.
We are all die hard Cab Franc fans, so a stop here was a must after @Carl Fischer introduced me to this cab franc last year. First, the property itself is flat out gorgeous. Quaint and quiet. Awesome history here as well.
This cab franc is a BABY. New release. Red and black fruits are still fighting to take over...didn’t get much blueberry off of this like I did the ‘12, but age plays a part. Violet, lavender, black truffle and a touch of spice. A benchmark for Napa Cab Franc, alongside Arnyca and Detert. The Post 1 bottle is their current release (2013) Cabernet that is their purest expression of Cabernet from the Estate. This is serious Cabernet...tannic, structured and could compete with top end mountain wines. — 3 years ago
A Napa Cabernet Franc tasting with the family today. The Detert and the Larkin were the favorites of the group; both had gorgeous black cherry and blueberry fruit with terrific aromatic intensity. The Gandona Meia and the Studio Seven-Fifty need more time. The Turnbull was slightly corked. — 3 years ago
