Very dark in colour - almost black. Lots of everything - ripeness, oak, blackberry, dark chocolate. The sort of wine I would have loved in my 20’s, not so much in my 70’s. Not for lovers of delicate wine - this is full throttle. This Australian producer is probably better known in the USA than Australia - like Mollydooker. A full bodied palate with M plus intensity and grainy tannins. Ranked No. 3 in Wine Spectators Top 100 wines of 2012. Not sure that extended cellaring will make a huge difference but will try to have the last one in early 2027. — a month ago
Little nose, mild acidity, slight body, smooth finish — 4 months ago
v10. Lucky me, I don’t know why I still have a v10, but it is fantastic. I will take a chance and call it “ at peak”. Cork came out clean. Solid purple color. Soft, pleasing bacon nose. Bright cherry, and dark black cherry fruit medley. Smooth, slightly tart, but round, zippy, mocha finish. Nicely balanced. Would not share ! — 16 days ago
Nice wine for its age, subtle with a light nose — 2 months ago
A new Garden series bottling for me. Padthaway is also new to me.
The initial nose was quite muted, only showing leathery note. The palate on the other hand shows great from the first sip with flavors blueberry, orange peel, toffee, black pepper, light medicinal, and thyme. It’s deep, powerful yet reserved. Acidity is holding up and tannins is still profound but rounded. And after 3 hours the nose finally comes around. Massive 16% ABV makes it presence felt at the end.
Probably need another 4-5 years to peak. — 4 months ago
Ruby color with aromas of dark red fruits, black tea and ample floral spice, from Pommard and Dijon top Parrett Mountain. On the palate flavors of black cherry, blackberry and plum with tobacco, cedar, black pepper, tea and vanilla spice. Pronounced soft fine tannins, long finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with fruit, herb, spice and flinty wet stone earthy character. Nice now! — 21 days ago
Dark and spicy aroma with a thick and unwinding complexity of granular tannins and stinging finish… an absolute powerhouse with layers on layers of intricacies. Tasting notes of dried rose petals, allspice and cake finish alone can’t fully describe. — 2 months ago
Paired well with pates, tenderloin medallions and surf and turf. — 3 months ago

2021. Beautiful. Hartford RRV Pinots are always a treat and this one though a little young was excellent. If you like Pinots… come along for the ride. — 3 days ago
