Dark and brooding, yet prickly and bright in acidity and food friendliness. Toasted blackberry, pyrazines and black cherry on the nose. Savory and vegetal on the palate, some underripe red pepper and red berries on the finish. Very interesting! — 2 days ago
Tried twice! Blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah and 10% Carmenère, deep Ruby with purple hues, aromas of black fruits and spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry, black currant and black pepper spice with some cacao notes. Rustic big tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit and powerful spice. Drink now and over next 3-5 years for max benefit. — 11 days ago
A surprising Malbec from Chile.
Nose - typical blueberry vanilla shake, dense, rich, sweet. There’s a hint of cool freshness, a stony minerality but not at the forefront.
The palate is a v. nice surprise.
Quite light, with brilliant juicy freshness. A light & crisp yet present tannic frame, fresh, crunchy blue & red fruit and an energetic flow of juicy acidity. Pure, cool, so fresh.
No plush richness, no jaminess, nothing over cooked. Vibrant, precise, juicy.
After the corked bottle of Gredos Grenache, this proved a delightful match for flanksteak & asparagus.

Impenetrable in colour - incredibly dark. Noticeably oaky as an initial impression, dusty amongst the red and blue berries but generally contained to begin with. The palate is full bodied with that oak influence - very polished. 46% Carmenere, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon,, 19% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. If tasted blind I would swear this was Cabernet Sauvignon dominant but when you realise that Carmenere has its origins in Bordeaux it makes sense. With more time in the decanter more cassis and blackberry coming through on that rich full bodied and brooding palate. Tannins resolving. Oak not as dominant as initially. James Suckling gave this 100 points and stated that this was South America’s greatest red wine, which is a big call. Interestingly Clos Apalta is owned and the wine is made by the French. — 24 days ago
Just one of those highlight wines. Seventeen year old Syrah that still packs a punch. Deep notes of blackberry, fig, licorice and tobacco. Powerful with an elegantly refined mid pallet and a savory finish. The kind of wine you need to finish off the night. — 23 days ago
— a day ago
— 8 days ago
Flavors poured off the wine. Rum cake, pipe tobacco, rip chewy fruits, candies spice, delicious! — 11 days ago
