Just returned from a week in Montepulciano.
While the ancient town’s signature “Nobile” wine isn’t as well regarded as neighbor Montalcino’s famous Brunello, this wine held up big time. Drank like some of the Chianti Classicos I’ve enjoyed from the area some 50 miles north — dry with big flavor, salt, crisp tannins — probably my favorite russo from our week in Italy. — 7 days ago

Savoury & juicy with ripe cherry, leather & roast, moist earth, tobacco leaf and with a whiff of thyme and salvia.
On the palate fresh, juicy, with grippy, slightly rustic tannins (but w/o becoming big & burly) and good flow. Highly drinkable and extremely food friendly.
This remains one of my favorite Chianti Classicos. — 4 years ago
