Chigny Les Roses%2c Montagne De Reims

Marie-Noelle Ledru

Grand Cru Brut Rosé Champagne

The Queen of Ambonnay. A true unicorn, so so rare and it’s in such a killer spot, not at all at the end of its life (I’m sure there can be some bottle variation), but it’s just fantastic tonight, rich, immensely powerful and perfumed with a captivating core of red berry fruit, red roses and a chalky mineral edge providing the most seamless balance to its layers and championing the Ambonnay terroir. A very special bottle that showed perfectly 🙌🏻 — 9 months ago

Rosélie Rosé de Saignée Champagne Blend

So very pretty in the glass, a typical vibrant Saignée color that we all love. Pure fruit loveliness on the nose with wild strawberries and cherries. Cranberries and roses with fresh herbs. A touch of pepper, a dash of spice, and a dollop of vanilla.

A pure Meunier from Vrigny, aged for three years. Racy and lively, it’s a nicely structured pour. At this age it does lack a little emotion. That special feeling the right wine, or person, can produce. Not quite enough personality…yet. But as we know, time can change that.

Chigny-les-Roses Brut Reserve Champagne Blend 1895

Very light on the nose, but wonderful lemon followed by orange taste. Nice and dry with no sourness. — 2 years ago

Rosé Champagne Pinot Noir

A delicate copper color with a more than adequate amount of minuscule bubbles. It’s very lively with the creaminess coming later. The nose is subdued at first showing red cherries and yeast but after around half an hour you’ll start to get fresh roses and tangerine. Composed of Grand Cru grapes from Verzenay, the blend is 65/35 PN/CH with 15% of the Pinot coming from still wine.

The longer you spend with this sexy minx of a champagne, the more you’ll fall in love. Still displaying those strong Pinot characteristics hours later, it has settled into a state of approachable elegance. That’s what using up to 60% reserve wines will do for you. A multitude of red berries and tasty pastries absolutely sing. Exquisite minerality runs throughout. A long finish with more citrus and acid. Comparing this to other, larger Champagne houses does a disservice because this easily blows them away.

Les Terres Roses Bouzy Grand Cru Extra Brut Champagne Blend Rosé

9.2

100% Grand Cru from Bouzy. 64% Chardonnay & 36% Pinot Noir. No dosage.

Definitely the most complex in the tasting so far. Fruits are nicely subtle. Strawberries, cherries, some blackberries, white citrus mix, pink grapefruit & white citrus with a touch of peach. Very soft, chalky powder, same for the limestone & volcanics, touch of white spice, undertones of saline & sea fossils, yeasty, brioche, pink roses and spring flowers, a very nicely woven structure w/ a softly & smartly polished finish.

Brut Blanc de Blancs 1er Cru Champagne Chardonnay 2006

Plug of green fruit to the nose, like a jolt of electric freshness. Salt, fruit and taffy notes. Lemon zest and lemon curd, walnut skin and light yellow curry. Some fresh baked cake too. What a wine — a year ago

Love this house. Visited a couple years ago. Get some Cuvée Angeline, not 2011, but 96, 08, newly released 12.
