Opulent and complex. Green apple, peach, a bit pipe apple, brioche, fresh bread dough, chalk, sea shells, and hint of toasted nuts. Savory and crisp at the same time. Splendid acidity. Super energetic mousse, though lacking a bit refinement.
Base wine is 2011, disgorged 2018. This and the Bollinger Special Cuvée are two of my favorite NV Champaign from larger houses. With 40% reserved wine averaged 10 year old, the CH Brut Reserve no doubt is a better value. — 4 years ago
3rd time I’ve had the chance to try this wine which was released more than 20 years after the vintage. It’s a real stunner, showing some secondary characteristics but not oxidized. This is what great chardonnay can become with age, showing the awesome terroir of the Charles Heintz vineyard. — 5 years ago
Sweet nose...very smooth for a brut...there is hint of a delicious nutty flavor.. — 11 years ago
An enchanting pale rose petal pink color in the glass. A fine perlage with plenty of small bubbles. A classic rosé nose with nice red fruits and a floral character. Black cherry dominate with cherry blossoms and wild strawberries. Fresh herbal aromas are underlying with hot buttered toast.
70/30 CH/PN from Grand Crus in Louvois, Bouzy, Avize, Cramant, and Chouilly, this has an impressive pedigree. Non vintage but a blend of a single year, this can withstand more time being left alone for a few years but it oh so pleasant right now. As much as I love the no or low dose champagnes, the 7 g/l is more than welcome here. Bright acid throughout.
There’s a definite intensity to the fruit on the palate. More of those nice red fruits occupy most of the attention here with a touch of chalky minerality. That familiar yeast makes a quick appearance backing up the herbs and spice. Immensely enjoyable. — 3 years ago
My first time trying the CH rosé champagne. Their Brut is my favorite NV champagne, so I was glad to finally get my hands on some of this. Not surprisingly, I loved it. Similar to the Brut, certainly a battle between fruit and savory yeasty notes, but more strawberry skin and rhubarb pie adding some spice to it. It’s got that streak down the middle showing the older vintage wines they add to these (which I love) adding a bit of English biscuit and caramel. — 5 years ago
Remarkable dry and mineral Chianti. Like no Chianti ever. Rich full bodied and complex. A very complex and right ch cherry flavor. Leather smoke. Unusual. Outstanding. With Debbie and Charles at medlar in London. 2018. 2011 vintage — 6 years ago

This is my first encounter with 2006 Charles Heidsiek Blanc des Millénaires
I'm a big fan of 1995 which I tasted numerous times before.
My impression of 2004 was quite mixed. I did see the signature CH style to it, but I would prefer to keep it for a minimum of 5 more years in the cellar. I thought CH really rushed with it into the market.
2006 release followed right after. I was even surprised why did they release it so soon.
I think I get the idea now. 2006 has everything you want. It has the ripeness of the fruit you expect from the warm vintage. Acidity is just right there.
Reductive style Chardonnay and signature popcorn flavour. Toasty and rich on the palate. That's exactly the blockbuster BdM we were all waiting for.
So let's enjoy 2006 for the next 5 years till 2004 riches its full maturity!

Rather balanced champers. On the front, creme brulee and brioche. Oxidative. Nuttiness going on. The finish is more reductive with some green apple, lemon and lime with a hint of tart and flint. Compared to Charles Heidsieck NV this one is probably 10 bucks more. This is a 12 base with earlier disgorgement than you see on the latest CH Heidsieck. This will hold IMO 10 years with cellaring on this NV with 2012 base. — 5 years ago
Powerful, rich and complex. Aromatic with damson plums and sweet cherries, gingerbread and brioche, a touch of dark chocolate. Very fine mousse and persistent bubbles + a long bitter-sweet finish. Really fine.

A new (to me) maison located in Vertus. The wine pours light straw in color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, bright lemons and white peach. On the palate, the fruit is confirmed and accompanied by chalky minerals. Long and very refreshing. 2008 vintage is certainly on display here. Zippy. I dig it! But I’m a sucker for 2008. — 2 years ago
