Château La Tulipe De La Garde

En Garde

Reserve Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2015

Love the perfume in the glass after you let it sit a bit. Very fruit forward but somewhat darker cherry than you would expect. Really love this Polinot! — 2 months ago

Château Pradeaux

Bandol Mourvedre 2004

All of the garrigue. Tasted alongside the Longue Garde version but this was the superior wine for right now. — 5 months ago

Château Jean-Pierre Gaussen

Longue Garde Bandol Mourvedre Blend 2010

Star of a two Bandol night, but this at age 14( minus a week or two). Deeper, plush, black violet & cassis nose; on palate tannins really nicely integrated, wild blackberries, more cassis & black currants. Crazy elegant and generous. Feels open. Distant notes of some kind of bark & forest floor. Older wild flowers.Eye opener, in sense of how far Bandol can go for me. — 4 months ago

Happy for Bandol-heads to emerge out of the shadows…this was a significant wine for me, very surprising- perhaps because my previous experiences were with Bandols that were still closed or too tight (Tempier, for example) @Tom Casagrande

Once had a Bandol that I thought was a bad buy. Though as nails. It openend up extremely beautiful. After twenty years. 🫣

Château La Garde

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

It has softened and the cherry is less pronounced. Plum vanilla. Getting better! I will try again next year. — 8 months ago

Château Pradeaux

Cuvée Longue Garde Bandol Mourvedre Blend 2004

This was the Longue Garde cuvee. Better the second day, or just Garde it for Longue-er. Similar to the regular Bandol but with more heft and a pronounced topnote of cedar. — 5 months ago

Chatons de garde Vin de Pays de l'Ardèche Syrah 2012

Great look on a slowly developing Ardeche Syrah. Some leather and a bit of pine forest floor, otherwise such an energetic and vital wine with lots of years ahead of it. — 7 months ago

Château La Fleur Cailleau

Canon-Fronsac Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

2019 vintage. Château La Fleur Cailleau, Canon-Fronsac. Bought in 1982 by Paul Barré (also Château La Garde, Fronsac) and managed these days by his son Gabriel and his wife Edith. Biodynamically farmed since 1990. Very impressive indeed, with an exemplary purity of fruit, ripe tannin and energetic acidity. Highly recommended. Abv. 14,5%. — a year ago
