Grands Échézeaux Pinot Noir 2005

It’s always a special treat to drink any bottle of DRC and this bottle of Grand Echezeaux felt extra special. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hour. The 2005 pours a hazy ruby color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with ripe notes of black cherry, blackberry, strawberry, red flowers, cumin, sous bois, licorice, dried green herbs, and gentle warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. In true DRC style, the balance is impeccable and this is showing well; early in its prime. Drink now with through 2055. Bottle No. 2210/11809 — 25 days ago

Comtes de Champagne Grands Crus Blanc de Blancs Champagne Chardonnay 2012

2012 vintage. Last tasted 1.16.26 (9.4). WOW. Currently in that precarious, oh so difficult to nail, sweet space between youth and maturity whilst exhibiting plenty of both. Ridiculously excellent with so much complexity. 4.18.26. — a month ago

Les Grands Vergers Arbois Trousseau 2023

Interesting palette not sure I ever tasted such an herbal wine before. Nose: cherry, orange? Taste: cherry, rhubarb, unidentified herb? Definitely a new try but very interesting and I did enjoy. — a month ago

Reasonable (good) but not spectacular and for 99$? Meyer lemon, jasmine, underripe white peach, apple. Not super interesting. — a month ago

The Paul Pernot wines have always underwhelmed me. Pity.

Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2017

The vintage that never sleeps. Always so open and giving, 2017 is Grands Ech is superb even in its youth, with scintillating intensity and richness, exceptional detail and focus and a long saline-mineral inflicted finale. Stunning vintage for this wine, one of my favorite bottlings from Drouhin, and surely to be even more impressive with additional time in bottle. — 5 months ago
