Wow, what a treat! This wine naturally develops a layer of flor which is kept on the wine for 14-15 months. Only 1 barrel of this 120 year old vine wine was made. It's snowing for the first time of the Fall season... So breaking the seal on a new bottle tonight. Normally drink the Ron Zacapa Centenario 23, which is a great, smooth rum (Carmel & Butterscotch notes heavy). Stepping up to the bigger brother tonight, we'll see how this goes...

Similar notes of Carmel, but less sweet than the 23 bottle, died fruit and a smokey note more closely associated with a single malt Scotch. One cube of ice really helped the nose bloom in the glass. Good bottle, but not worth the extra price, perhaps my opinion will evolve. — 9 years ago

Whoa this actually smells like nutty banana dessert with salted caramel sauce!! So much ripe fruit through both nose and palate but without diminished acid... wow it’s actually so creamy it’s remarkable. Bit of grip in the top palate similar to walnut skin and a sharp steely mineral streak through the center.... odd odd wine but absolutely delicious. Curious about his this is vinified - would guess concrete with some new oak?? — 8 years ago
