No notes but to emphasize the obvious: boy, this goes Zelig with air. Starts off Beaujolais like, slightly unripe blackberries, crunchy cranberries & shortish finish ( like Dolcetto!) but ends (& would keep going!) as absurdly satisfying, elegant even with a very earthy palate of wild berries & pitch perfect snap. !00% Nerello Mascalese, Single Contrada from a favorite Sicilian Producer. This isn’t the typical lighter, easy drinking Nerello. This has body, weight and complexity. Darker fruit: black cherry, blackberry,raspberry, smoke, with tannins and acidity. Definitely capable of aging but I have a hard time time not drinking them! — 6 months ago

Nose is smokey, tarry and reserved initially. Nice spices. Some tea. But seems like it’s about to bust open in 30 minutes or so. Chestnut. Some mid season cherry and minerality develops. It’s getting floral now. Palate is juicy, ripe and dense with great freshness and expressive mineralIty. Concentrated and really complex. Worlds better than the Gallina. Needs maybe one hour open but terrific energy, density and freshness. Long as well. Balanced. Substantial tannins but velvety and just barely sweet. — 4 years ago
