Capstone to the birthday week — 6 years ago
Poured from double magnum... For such a crappy vintage in Burgundy, this is truly outstanding.
The nose is very delicate, giving up barrel toast cherries, berries and a slightly sweet edge. Weightless on the tongue with an uncommon purity. An extended finish of rich dark fruits put a capstone on the "wine-of-the-night — 9 years ago

Nice capstone to the meal. This is made with the ancient Muscat de Alexandria! Jesus probably drank this. Fantastic! Honey, apricot, full bodied,
UPDATE: just read others' reviews. @Shay A also describes this well. I will.be searching for this wine for the house. The velvety mouth feel is addictive... I left the restaurant about 15 min ago and might turn around for another glass. The honey-apricot nexus is unbelievable!!!

Popped and poured. The 2022 “Dry White Wine” from Akra Chryssos was a brilliant capstone to our Hellenic adventure. The winemaking at Akra Chryssos leans toward natural but is more accurately described as extremely light-handed. The Somm explained that these wines do see some barrel but only for a short period and all are used. Some of the fruit is sourced from vines over 200 years old.
The 2022 vintage pours a striking pale salmon color which is, apparently, unusual for this wine as previous vintages were a more traditional straw color. I wondered if this vintage had seen some skin contact however, it has not. The Somm at Pharoah had asked her supplier about it and the only information they could offer is that the aging barrels had previously held a red wine. The nose is stunningly powerful. Bright, fresh pineapple, star fruit, lemon, honey and crushed rocky minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes on the nose. The finish is long and saline. This was a divine pairing with a variety of fare including fava beans with anchovy, roasted wild greens with anthotyro cheese, grilled octopus and red snapper savoro. — a year ago
Our convict-friends down under are flexing their muscles with this. It's a huge departure from Napa and France, so make some mental adjustments before pulling the cork.
It requires at least 4hrs in a decanter, so plan accordingly.
The nose is dominated by cedar and sandalwood, chased by jammy dark fruits. No heat on the palette, but tannins are still evident. Notes of wet asphalt, Indian spices, sweet dark cherries put a capstone on what is a flamboyant, yet restrained Shiraz. Perfect balance is attained with juicy acidity and 13.5 abv, which accounts for the lack of heat that I was expecting. This easily has another 10 years of runway ahead of it, so no rush to consume these. — 8 years ago
